We just recently arrived and working the VC, Museum and Cabin as interp, not Camp Host. We were given about 10 days to explore the area, etc. before starting to work as this is still the slow part of the year.
I believe camp hosts work 2 days a week, like all Volunteer postions. We work on Saturday and Sunday. This is a No reservation Park with 88 camp sites on the Nolichucky River. One of the hosts has been back for their 3rd year, Another just left and has been coming back for many years.
104 acre park, a lot of history, civil war grave on site.
There are 3 Fulltime Park Rangers, 1 maintenance, and they have 5 or 6 Volunteer positions they can use in interp, hosting and maintenance. 3 Volunteer positions are currently filled for part of the season. The busy season gets started around Memorial Weekend.
This was posted on their behalf quickly today, due to a last minute host cancellation. Hope this helps
If interested, it is best to contact Dawn for camp host details. She is easy to work with, and they appreciate the effort of volunteers.
