Do you want to work in a beautiful mountain setting and help others enjoy nature? We are looking for Camp Host Volunteers for Palomar Mt. State Park. We typically schedule our hosts for approximately 24-30 hours per host site/per week. If you apply as a couple, then the hours are split between the couple. In return for your help we provide a space with full hookups plus propane. There are also washer and dryer units available for your use at no charge.

Typical duties range from light campground maintainence, working in the kiosk, registering visitors and answering questions.

We are located in north-east San Diego County in southern California. The elevation range is 4500-5500ft. The park is heavily wooded with large open meadows in the valley. We have 31 family campsites and 3 large group sites. We have a fishing pond that is stocked on a regular basis and we have approximately 15 miles of trails.

We normally ask for a minumum of a three month commitment, but shorter times are available if I have no other applicants. We have two positions and usually there is only one filled at any given time. That means there is almost always (winter, summer, spring and fall) at least one position open. However, as of 4/28/06, I do not have availability until 10/1/06. I do book as far in advance for future months/years. The start date depends on your availability. We can accomidate any size rig into either location.
