My wife and I begin fulltiming in October. We plan to go to Alaska next summer (2006) and would like to camp host for a month to a month and a half in an Alaska state park. I have been to the Alaska Parks web site and see that we have to fill out a form for each park. Since we would really like to camp host, to make sure we get an offer it seems to me we would have to fill out forms for different positions in different parks for the same time period. So my questions:

1. Anyone have any experience camp hosting or just staying at AK state parks, whether good or bad?

2. Any idea how tough it is to get a camp hosting position?

3. When should we apply? Is it too early to apply now?

Thanks,
Kevin

kc,
We have stayed in a several when we were there in 02. I don't remember the names off hand, but their was one just north of Eagle River just off the main hwy and it was VERY nice, clean and well maintained.. Another was on the way to Homer just south of where 3 comes into 1 and it is on the left hand side of the road on a nice lake....
