I have 40 years experince in the following jobs; superintendent, estimator, project manager and owner. Has anyone had experience working as a consultant on the road. I want to be selective as to where we go, as I don't need to work. I would just like to keep my hands in it as I find it hard to just walk away. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I am working as a Site Superindent on two projects in Dover DE. I am staying in a trailer park with my travel trailer. This is the second location if have worked as a Site Super. The 1st was in Oxford Pa there I stayed in a nice campground on Rt 272. I enjoy working like this. I go home on weekends to wife & daughter. The pay is good and I am not tied down to one place.

Thanks, I've done the traveling super gig when I was younger. I'm really not looking to be saddled on a project long term. Just come in solve some problems, get it running smooth and take off.

Hondo122, let me know if this works out for you because I'm in a similiar situation. This is my 35th year and I'm thinking of retiring after this year. I've been everything from laborer to superintendent. College educated and not afraid to get dirty, which is probably why we have a hard time leaving the industry. If you ever get this way look us up.

Got to be some use for us used up old construction dogs. I'm in the same boat, only a little younger. Been everything from a laborer to a Project Manager. Would love to find a way to use my skills that doesn't tie me down to one place for months on end. Of course if I had little round rubber stamp with my name on it, I could draw pretty pictures, charge large fees, and let someone else figure out how to put it together.

If you are available for volunteer work - - purposeful use of your skills: there are several organizations that can use your help.
The most obvious example is Habitat for Humanity.
I can also give you a list of other "helps" organizations that provide construction (and other) assistance to those in need (a couple are listed on my web-site).

Already involved in plenty of church related volunteer work. And I would hope to continue that mission even if "permanantly" traveling. But "full time" volunteer work doesn't put gas in the tank and pay the bills.
