We have been offered a volunteer position at this refuge for October and November. Was wondering if anyone had stayed at the refuge, or in the area, who could offer some suggestion/recommendations.

TIA

By end November it will be pretty brisk along the shore. We loved the time we spent at NWR in Montana.

It's definitely going to be windy and cold. I haven't been there in years, but it is generally a large hunk of marsh on the side of Barnegat Bay that is very popular with bird watchers. I don't think they have a campground per se, and probably just have a few sites for volunteers. Pretty much out in the middle of nowhere, but very scenic in it's own way .....

Ask if they supply propane. It sounds like a possibly enjoyable position for a couple months as a major resting spot on the Eastern Flyway. Enjoy.
