Hey all, This is my first post, I am an airbrush artist from Jacksonville, FL. Some friends of ours just went full time in their retirement and suggested that I might be able to do well going full time and traveling from event to event. I have to admit I am extremely intrigued at the concept and am going to give it a test run this summer by going full time for three months. It used to be that enough business came to me to keep me booked three months out, with the economy however, that is no longer the case. I will be hitting motorcycle and RV rallys all across the south. I was wanting to solicit a few opinions and ask a few questions as I prepare for this.
1. Where can find a listing of the more popular RV rallys?
2. Is airbrush still popular in the RV community? I know murals used to be all the rage.
3. We have a 27 foot class "C" fleetwood. It's older and will be upgraded should this experiment go well. How feasible is full timing out of a class C? I know of course it can be done, just wondering whether or not it's gonna be comfortable.
Thanks in advance for all your input.

I'd be happy in a Class C, I'm taking off with a 17 ft TT next year, depends on how much room you need. Can't speak for the others but would love a mural of my dogs on the back of my TT. Can it be done on siding or do you have to have a smooth surface?

Hey Deco, It can be done on siding But obviously looks better on a smooth surface. In a lot of cases with the corrugated sides, people will have me paint a smaller mural on a piece of sheetmetal which they will then attach to their RV with screws. Nice thing about this method is it prevents a drop in resale value in the event you outgrow the TT or RV.
Dixie, thanks for the input. It will be just me and the wife to start out with, we always liked the cozy quarters while traveling together. It's when the kids come along that cabin fever sets in. I am thinking if this works out an upgrade to a class A will be in order.

1. Where can find a listing of the more popular RV rallys?
FMCA has national and regional Rallies that are fairly large. Check their website, but I'm not sure how much of it is 'members only' vs open to anyone.
Good Sam, pretty much the same deal as above.
There are many others as well, but the above two are probably the largest.

The wife and I full time in a 24' Class C and we love it. We started off in a 19' travel trailer, went to a 32' travel trailer and hated how big it was. We are very happy with the Class C.

I think the murals are cool and would also love one of my dogs on my RV. However given that painted RVs are all the rage, particularly ones with swoops, swirls or other graphics, you may want to consider trying to offer small painted graphics packages. Something that allowed your customers to customize their RV with an affordable swoop or swirl, not a full body paint job, just something to give it an individual touch, could be popular.

Actually, I carry a vinyl plotter which will cut out those types of graphics as well as names and images and a host of other things. Not everyone wants to paint their rig or make permenant changes which may affect resale so this is my alternative.

Hi All,
Hey Airbrushguy,
Was wondering if you thought about or talked with DriVer about you being at the iRV2 National in Urbanna, VA this Sept. I also think it might not be a bad idea to go around to campgrounds in an area you are in, and when you see folks outside you talk with them and let them know what you do! Also ask if they would like to see some samples of your work. That has happened to me at a few places and I have bought sometimes! Just my 2 cents worth! Oh also
