Good Morning from Talladega Superspeedway

I arrived here yesterday and things are pretty quiet, but filling up slowly. No racing until the weekend, but my volunteering starts the morning.

Anyone else going to be here? I'm camped at GEICO East #282.

Ed, what kind of workamping opportunities are available at a NASCAR track? My other half is unbelievably interested in such matters.

Working for the track and/or NASCAR have no idea. I am a Shriner and we provide the drivers for the ADA golf carts that move folks around the track area. Busy busy I can assure you. I drove 11 hours yesterday and will do the same today. But it is fun or I wouldn't do it.

Being walking impaired myself, I'd be happy to ferry people around in something like a long golf cart. Is it necessary to be a Shriner? I'm simply trying to become a useful volunteer and because of her interest, NASCAR tracks would be ideal. Any suggestions?

It is here, but I'm sure other tracks have different groups the perform similar services. I would contact the track(s) you are interested in and ask what volunteer services are available.

Just a note, two people, a young man and an older man were found dead there Monday morning. The reason I post this is because a camper of some style was involved. Carbon Monoxide poisoning maybe.

Given that someone else was traveling with them and was fine I doubt it (otherwise he would have been 3). More likely substance abuse in excess IMO. Either way RIP and condolences to the families.
