Custer is a really nice recreation area for the summer. Nice climate, great bike trail between towns on the old RR right of way, the caves, history etc. Good choice!

There are some poor reviews for workampers at that CG. By all means try it out, but have a backup plan if needed. There is no glamour in toughing it out if you don't enjoy it.
Last week we met some campers that had worked at Heartland CG near Rapid City, they loved it there and are going back next summer. (Note - reviews aren't great there also)
We volunteered in Custer State Park as cabin cleaners 4 years ago and we liked that experience.

I used to think that way, but have heard of some parks that will take advantage of that "old fashion work ethics". My thought is if I am not happy in a job situation then it would show through, and that would not be fair to the cg, customers, and anyone close to me.
We have never left a job early, but I would not have a problem doing so if I did not like the job. You only live once, why spend 1 day doing something that makes you miserable for someone else's benefit or their profit?
This is why we prefer to volunteer vs work for pay. As volunteer's I have some control of when and what we work on. For example, I refuse to sit at a desk, BTDT for 30+ years.

So you will be working in the store or parking? Not much detail was provided so pardon the mistaken advice, but keep us posted.
