Workamper Park Host Needed for Deukmejian Widerness Park

The city of Glendale CA has advertised for a volunteer Park Host position in the Workamper News magazine plus has posted a Workamper News Hotline Ad looking for a volunteer Park Host to take over my volunteer job that I have had for the past 2 years and 2 months.

It has been a real joy and opportunity volunteering at this specific day use park which is located in the San Gabriel Mountains just above the foothill area of La Crescenta California at about 2250 foot elevation where I am parked. There are over 700 acres of hiking trails within the park plus additional miles that are outside the park. The trails will take you to the top of Mt Lukens which is the highest peak in LA County.

My signature below contain links to both the park and a link that shows a Google Map of my exact location. You will see both my RV coach and my "Rolling Garage" Cargo Trailer parked next to it. You may even see my car too.

This is not an RV Park but a day use park that gets a lot of hikers and dog walkers. Plus there is a beautiful picnic area which has a view where you can actually see the Pacific Ocean on a very clear day. There is also the historic Le Messenger Barn with a small vineyard located nearby. People love to use this park for weddings, family picnics, reunions, special events and even a Sunrise Easter Service which is coming up at the beginning of next month.

All I can say it that is has been one of the best Workamping experiences that I have had since becoming a lifetime member of Workamper News.

We will be leaving on April 20th for our third trip to Alaska to spend the summer with my sons and grand kids.

If you are seriously interested in applying for this job, I would recommend reading a copy of the ad below, then give Marc Stirdivent a call plus send him your resume.

Post Bump for this volunteer job which is coming up very soon.

I am leaving this volunteer position on April 20th heading to Alaska for the summer.

My boss, Marc Stirdivant, is still looking for my replacement.

This is a great opportunity for very little hours. Even though the ad states 30 hours per week in reality it is far less. The busiest is during the summer months when they have more reservations for parts of the park. And truthfully the only time needed to service the reservations is to get a signature at the beginning of their reservation and to address any problems during the reservation. In the over two years that I was here there wasn't one reservation that had ANY problems.

I patrol the developed area of the park twice a day usually when I go out to walk my dog for his daily ritual. If I observe anything that needs attention I email the appropriate Glendale Parks & Recreation personnel to take care of the concern. I do a Dog Poop-Trash-Butt patrol once a week which wasn't part of the job description but it was something that I decided to do to keep the park looking neat and clean.

Other than living in the mountains with spectacular views and wildlife around you the biggest benefit was saving on RV Park monthly rent which amounted to thousands of dollars over the last two years and two months.

Workamper News

There are many other web sites that provide lists of jobs for RVer's.

Google is your friend.
