Yosemite Desk Officer Program Opportunity Expanded
The Desk Office Program at Yosemite National Park for the 2018 April through October season has just been expanded to non-Law Enforcement.
The Desk Officers take minor MV accident reports, lost/found property reports and update records on the Department of Interior IMARS program (Information Management and Reporting System). Excellent computer skills are required. Additional training is available for the Law Enforcement aspects of the program if needed.
Applicants must pass an extensive background check due to the personal information to which the Desk Officer is exposed. RV Site with full hook-ups including propane and internet is provided. Current schedule is 3 days on/6 days off but is subject to change.
Spouses of the Desk Officer will be trained for other volunteer activities on the same schedule.
Nightly group campfires and periodic pot luck breakfasts and dinners make this a fun post for the summer!
For further information you can PM me or contact the Yosemite Desk Office at 209-372-0608 10am to 4 pm daily.

Not sure why a PM to me would not work. You can reach me at jean_corsetti@partner.nps.gov until about October 25 if you have questions or comments.

jsetti, when I click your username on the left and select "send jsetti a private message" I get a message that states:
Quote:
jsetti has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
If you are trying to send this message to multiple recipients, remove jsetti from the recipient list and send the message again.

I'll send you an email.

Edit PM and email options in User CP. Many are turned off by default

Being retired leo I've thought about this job having seen it posted. Other than what has been posted, any other insight on the job? That's a nice schedule.

They've filled all positions for 2018.

All of the positions for 2018 have been filled and we have a "waiting list" in case someone who has currently been hired needs to pull out for whatever reason as has happened in the past. We also have a list for 2019.
I will be closing the Desk Office for the season on October 25, 2017 but would be happy to hear from anyone who is interested in the program who would like more information.
You can contact me at 209-379-0608 or email me at Yose_Desk_Officer@nps.gov the email will be forwarded over the winter.

I think you need to add that they require a spouse.
I sent an email about the program and was told the spouse is required to do another job.

I apologize for any confusion. I guess I wasn't clear that this is a "couples" program when I stated in the original post:
"Spouses of the Desk Officer will be trained for other volunteer activities on the same schedule."
The reason we advertise primarily for the Desk Officer and not the spouse is because of the background check that is required for the Desk Officer that is not required for the spouse.

I can pass your background check with ease, but I will not get a spouse for any non-paying job or for any reason. There is nor reason for requiring a couple. You miss out on so many good people.
