Excellent suggestion. Look for the Senior Pass and other passes on the NPS Web Site.

I got "lucky" if you call having MS "lucky". We to a US park and the gate keeper noticed my handicapped license plate and had me sign up for the Golden Access Pass. Don't really use it that much as it's kind of had to find parks that take a 40 or now 45' MH. Does help for entrance though. Even used it in Hawaii for half price entrance.

I got mine this spring and so far have stayed in two national parks for have price and visited many more free. There are a lot things to see in this country and the pass makes it very affordable.

Best deal in town. I always suggest when selling them ( as a volunteer for USFWS) that if its a couple both parties have one. There are some fee based program , such as the ferry out to Cumberland National Seashore, that technically requires each person to have a pass for the discounted ticket.
Always ask if the CG accepts it as some NPS & USFS use a concession who might not and some COE parks are run by another non fed agency.
Contrary to a post on another thread here you cannot "will" your pass to someone. They require a signature and a proper acceptance requires that you show an ID with the card when you use it.
You can go online to order it

I have my pass by virtue of being a disabled veteran. Just stop in at any national park visitor center with a copy of your disability letter and I think I needed my dd214. It was free and covers entry into national parks and reduced campground rates.

No DD214 needed just a document proving your disability

Always look at the state sights also, as some states honor the card. 1/2 price is golden.

I haven't found a state that honors the card, but that would be great. I love the 1/2 price but more than that it is an incentive to see more of our country.

Nor have I have not found a state yet that honors the federal senior pass, at least in the 10 western states, if any one knows of a list, please share!

Did someone really claim that? Sometimes I just have to shake my head.

I got my disabled pass by showing my ID and Medicare card, at 56 years old. That was all I needed.
