Anyone Buy Their RV Supplies at Garage Sales, Flea Markets Etc?

I have bought an air mattress (5 bucks), Mr. Heater ($3), small folding chairs (2 @ $2 each), glass percolator ($5), bocce set ($4) and that is all I can think of at the moment.

What are your "finds"?

Besides food and toiletries we seldom purchase anything NEW. So, yep, yard sales, flea markets, and Grannie's attic have all been sources for what ever items we think are necessary.

When our youngest daughter was about 5 years old we drove past the location for the local flea market in the winter while it was closed. The sweet pipkin had learned her lesson a bit too well perhaps; she said, "I sure wish the flea market was open, I need a new dress."

Another type of item we prefer to purchase new is major appliances. If they are on the chopping block at the local yard sale it is often because they are no longer working or need some repair or other.

Add Craigslist and freecycle to that list.

All my Corelle dinnerware is from thrift stores. We picked up a used thetford toilet (to repair the one in the Class C), a used holding tank (black), used water heater (these will be used in the bus conversion) from Craigslist. I got some lumber, plywood and a strip of landscape edging that are to be used on the bus. What would I do with a piece of metal landscape edging? Why turn the bus' original 2 piece door into a one piece door!

My tableware is also from a yard sale I believe. My MIL found it. The silverware is an old set we moved outside when we replaced the everyday stuff.

Found a small Dirt Devil handheld vacuum for $10. Small as it is that little sucker will about pull the fibers out of the carpet. I ever get out I'll keep that just because it's a great little vacuum.

Past that I really haven't had to replace much. My stuff gets to last a long time because it doesn't see much use.

Assorted tools, My favorite coffee cup, and I can't tell you how many other things.. I have a sewing machine I got at a yard sale,, Same model my mother had so I know well how to use it (Yes, I sew) I've gotten coffeemakers and other kitchen ware (I know how to use them too) About the only thing I do not look at is clothing. Though I have occasionally gotten lucky there.. but at over six foot and 300 pounds... Not often.

We have discovered some great buys on RVing stuff at flea markets, and yard sales too.

Inspect the rivets in the joints closely, and frequently. We had one that was used perhaps 5 times(purchased new). Four of our granddaughters(under age 10) sat on the benches during a cookout I was having. Some rivets on each side broke, the table collapsed on the girls legs, cut two girls and bruised the other two. Thankfully no broken bones.

All 4 at an indoor flea market for $10: They are retro Oldsmobile hubcaps.

I bought a clean Eureca hand vac at a garage sale for a buck yesterday. I thought it would be worth a gamble as these cordless devices are usually hit and miss.
