It's really apples and oranges. A budget campground requires specialized equipment or the willingness to use a tent, a budget motel requires a car and a shopping bag.

If you're in it for the recreation, buy a motorhome and stay in a campground.

If you're going from A to B, the motel is the wisest idea.

The dumbest ideas are to buy a MH and stay in motels, or buy a car, obtain a shopping bag and stay in a campground.

Two entirely different venues. Like comparing buying a cheap airplane or flying economy commercially.

CHEAPER...CHEAPER...CHEAPER isn't my foremost goal. And the views from CHEAP motels isn't that great.

However, I have been reading about the prices of campgrounds, and was wondering if it would be cheaper to stay in budget motels instead? Besides the cost of campgrounds and motels, there is also the difference in the amount of gas used. A truck pulling a trailer uses a lot more gas than an economical car or a motorcycle. I also have to figure in the cost of the trailer and truck. Of course, I can keep them and use them occasionally or sell them.

I was hoping that someone has thought about this or made some type of comparison that they could share with me.

Thank,

Dan
same thought exactly.

I am currently pulling a Toy Hauler with a motorcycle. So once I get to an area I explore with either the truck or the motorcycle weather permitting. However, 1. its more work then small car and hotels 2. you eat a ton of fuel when pulling 3. weather is making it hard for me to move around.

My plan was to explore all of the west coast (central states I already know) to find a place to call home for the rest of my life. That project would have been better if I had just did the car thing. As it is I am killing a lot of time with regular setting up breaking down camp not to mention because of the weather I am not wanting to go anywhere. seems like everytime I wake up all directions I want to go are dangerous with towing, so I paid for a full month here in New Mexico
