Budget Parks, RV Sites
While we've traveled full time since last June over 20,000 miles, and have stayed at well over 100 different RV parks, State and National parks, campgrounds, and free parking lots, we have on several occasions parked for several months in the same area - such as Clearwater FL during the winter, and now the N Georgia mountains for the summer.
While I always use PassportAmerica and Goodsam apps, and GoogleMaps for searching spots, I've also found that many places that are terrific for extended stays do NOT show up in any of thoses searches - specifically PRIVATE rv parks and Privately owned rv sites. Private parks tend to be more 'permanent' rv parks, with many or most as parks models permanently fixed, with some as more traditional open rv sites. They are privately owned, either as individual parcels, where the owner payes their own taxes and can sell anytime, or as 'community' ownership where the park member fees pay taxes as a whole. Either way, I've found that many of these open sites are either vacant for part of the year, or are For Sale.
I've started to scout out these opportunities and am finding that many of these sites are available to rent, sometimes by the month, until the owner returns, or even by the season, longterm, while the site is on the market for sale. I've found these sites and parks by driving around the area, talking with locals, and sometimes accidentally finding them when viewing googleMaps when I'm actually trying to find somthing else!
We have just moved to a 'dbl' lot(2 rv sites) that the owner is trying to sell, but has offered to us, very cheaply, while he tries to sell, if it ever does. We only have to pay electricity separately, with park CableTV, water, sewer, and pool usage included. A nice deal, considering it's about half the monthly cost of staying at even the lowest cost 'RV parks' in the area. : )
