MtMan, I agree,
IMHO, RVing On a Budget, the title of this message area, would imply not joining Thousand Trails.
And I was never one that was too keen on paying a company a lot of money now, to save me a little money later. I always thought companies like Thousand Trails were more interested in making money than saving me money.
Eliminate the middle man by banking your $5000 + $500 a year and pay yourself $20 every night you camp.

We bought our Thousand Trails membership for $1,300 three years ago (eBay) --- so the economics are much more in our favor. We've stayed an average of about 90 nights per year for the last three years --- so let's see . . .
$1,300 membership + $500 annual fee x 3 years = $2,800. Those 270 nights in those 3 years have cost us about $10.37 per night. As the years go by and assuming we continue utilizing our membership, the nightly cost will continue to decrease. Has the makings of a good investment -- for us -- maybe not for someone else.
So maybe RVing On a Budget is the place to consider Thousand Trails. I must agree, however, that Thousand Trails is more interested in making money than saving me money - makes them just like all the others!

Don't forget to factor in the fact that many of the campgrounds you stayed in would have given you a FMCA discount. I know of none that would give PA + FMCA.

Anyone stay at the TT called Carolina Landing
NACO, in fair play, SC? We'll be there for free at the end of the month.
