Nov. 11 Fees Waived at National Recreation Sites

All National Park Service sites across the country, as well as most U.S. Forest, Bureau of Land Reclamation and Army Corps of Engineers properties will offer free visitor admission in honor of U.S. veterans, active members of the U.S. armed forces and their families Nov. 11.

The fee waiver applies to entrance fees only. The duration of the free permit issued Nov. 11 is for one day only regardless of the park’s usual standard entrance permit period. Fees for commercial vehicles, tunnel escorts, camping and backcountry permits will not be waived. Fees for services offered by park concessionaires may not be waived. It will depend upon the individual concessionaires.

Silly question, but do you have to be a veteran to get the fees waived or no?

Nope! It is simply free.

If 62 or over you can get a Senior Pass for 10 bucks for free entry for life.

You may be able to get the pass for free if you have paperwork to show you are disabled.

Here is the web site for the pass, officially called the "America the Beautiful" pass. U.S. National Park ServiceAmerica the Beautiful

The "fee free" day on Nov 11 also applies to National Wildlife Refuges that normally charge an entry fee.
