On our way out to Arizona for the winter, Donny and I are considering taking advantage of our Moose and Eagle's memberships and staying a few nights at those clubs along the way that have "RV OVERNIGHT PARKING".

Have any of you ever done this? Our Eagles club here doesn't have any hookups but does allow boondocking.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Julie,
It was fun meeting you and Don in Nashville. I look forward to hearing about your full timing adventure as you go along.
In regards to your question, we have not done that but if you check out Mark Nemeth's homepage, I believe he talks about that on some of his journal pages. You could probably send him an email as well.

Hello, fellow Eagle!
While surfing the Grand Aerie website, I've done a little looking for myself & realized if I was ever as lucky to stray far away on a trip, quite a few clubs have RV accomodations.
You're right, most have no hookups, but a place to park & spread out a bit is always a welcome sight for sore eyes (and muscles).
Follow my link to our Eagle website (I'm the webmaster, BTW) and go to the bottom of the opening page to "Links" - that will lead you to state aeries' sites - a lot of them DO mention about RV parking. http://www.foe.com/3206/
Have a nice trip & when you come up here to MI sometime, look us up!

Ken,

We've been talking here in Morenci that we need to do an EAGLE HOPPING trip before Donny and I leave for AZ. The Taylor Michigan aerie has our CLOCK from a road trip they did this spring. We need to retrieve it!

Nothing better than a bunch of Eagle's members on a bus arriving in aerie's previously unknown!

We may see you!

Are Eagles better than Moose? When I first moved here, my father-in-law got me to join the local Moose club and it was fine for a while. After a few years, I moved on with other interests. As I was driving bus for a local bus co. I had a weekend trip with the local "25" club, drive to a predetermined location, stopping at all Moose clubs on the way, stay overnight, return a different route, hit all the Moose clubs on the way home, great time, with one major problem.Being the "driver" they insisted I join them for a drink at each stop (no-alcoholic) to feel like "one of the group" all lodges had no problem, EXCEPT the lodge in Utica NY, they had the "Member's Only" policy and would not allow me in to join this group, who, by the way, made sure to spend a conciderable amount of money in these Lodges. need-les to say, this group decided that if I couldn't join them, they would not patronize this lodge. All they wanted was for me to be able to sit and have a pepsi with them.
Never been to, never will support any Moose
fund-raiser.

Friend of mine (Moose member) said they have some hookups at various places.
I belong to the Elks and have found many Lodges with full hookups. Some have their own RV parks. In fact I'm in one now in Oregon (26 full hookups, 12 w/elec, water). They also have 4 books that cover the country with listing of Lodges that have hookups. And a page at their website that is more up to date than the books.
I know you didn't ask about the Elks but some Elk member might check out your post.

Does anyone know if the American Legion or VFW allow boondocking?

I too have stayed at several Elks lodges and found them to be quite accomodating for the price. Many have full hook-ups or at least electric and water with a dump station either on site or very close by. Plus, the meals at the lodge are generally great and inexpensive!

I am also an Elk. We have stayed at quite a few Lodges across the country. You can get RV directories from Carmichael, Ca Lodge & Gulf Coast AL Lodges which list which Lodges Have RV hookups. I have found them very useful.
