There is no better way to save money than by boondocking. I mean on government land for free. I have solar, a bladder to get fresh water and a blue boy to cart away the black water and a macerator pump to pump into the blue boy while it is on the truck. The gray water can be run on the ground in dispursed camping areas. One must find a spot near a source for dumping and fresh water. My costs are for food, water, dumping, LP gas and a little gasoline for the truck now and then. It sure beats $30.00 a day or the $649.00 a month plus electric ($72.00) I paid in Tucson, AZ. The largest savings is to my senses. It is very quiet where I am compared to a campground and my dog runs free as nature intended.

Seems to fit your needs quite well, but I'm sure it's not for everybody.

Snickers is a collie/shelti mix rescue dog. He came to me from collie rescue. Poor mistreated dog sleeps on 6" of memory foam. I have several washable covers for his bed.
We do not boondock all the time as we do travel and use campgrounds sometimes. There are many free places to camp offered by towns and countys. Some even have a dump and fresh water. We were in Tucson at a CG (noisy) for 4 months while I was helping my son put in a new kitchen.

If you have a generator..there is nothing better than free or almost free camping. Not only is there the obvious financial benefit..but in most places, you have a good area to yourself. I have a distaste for being parked 15 ft from trailers on each side, and have to pay $35 or so for that privilege..

I have a Yamaha very quiet generator that runs everything, including the AC. My ploy is to find a spot with some shade, away some distance to neighbors, hopefully near water and wildlife, put out the patio mat and chairs...and enjoy.

I have the quietest generator on the market bar none. SOLAR ! It meets all my needs except for A/C and I have power to spare. 400 watts.

Has anyone ever considered trading or shareing spaces? I know that I live in North Central Fl and have 7 acres here in a wooded area and 2 acres at Keaton Beach and a half acre at Cedar keys for camping. You might have to run off generator and a holding tank but I am open to a group forming to share spaces. Anyone out there into this? Maybe we could form a group.

Sounds interesting. Our fifth wheel is fully solar (except for air) and we're in the Clearwater area. Do you camp out on your land often? Is there clear areas to park?

What's available for boondocking is highly dependent on the area. I find RV parks are sometimes a necessity, but as a lesser choice.
I designed my vehicle to go many days disconnected. I do get bored sitting in one place.

ralpher, (and others) I don't want you to give away your secrets, but is there a website that might list boondocking sites? Not my cup of tea all the time, but we take very short short trips and would love to boondock every now and then...

We camp at Keaton quite often. We have a 31 foot Sierra TT there that we leave. We have electric and a septic there. There is water but it is very yellow. We have a half acre cleared near Cedar key in the Rosewood area. We havent camped there yet. We just bought a used RV and plan to make sure it is road worthy prior to taking it out. We both work and haven't retired yet so we take a break whenever we can to camp and fish. We live on the 7 acres in Lake Butler in a double wide mobile home.
Email my email at juanita_mcspadden@yahoo.com it is easier to use than this site. My husbands email is johnnymacjr@yahoo.com Do you have a place for campers?
