My wife and I like to go to thrift shops as a way to save while we're driving around the country.
We found a great site that has a huge directory of thrift shops.

Mike,

Welcome to iRV2, we're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences, adventures, and your trips to thrift shops while driving around the country.

You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them.

As you'll see, they're eager to help and share their knowledge and experiences with others and we appreciate the link.

Again, welcome to iRV2, we're glad you joined.

Welcome aboard. Keep tabs on who is camping where and plan to make a stop with one of the groups.

Haven't been to a thrift shop recently, but, now that we are about to begin full timing in a few weeks, our donations have become pretty large. I may stop by the SA's local store just to see what they are asking for my furniture, linens, dishes, clothes, and other stuff that they just picked up... If it didn't go to storage or our daughter, it went to the Salvation Army. Life is about to get less cluttered, and more fun...

Last month I got Jim to stop at a thrift shop in San Angelo,Texas. The Catholic Outreach Center and Thrift Store is in a brand new beautiful building and I highly reccomend it.Good clean store, great prices. But it turned out to be Jim's worst nightmare. I went in to buy a couple of blouses and stayed 2 1/2 DAYS! yep, days!
When we tried to leave after only 15 minutes
(a record for me) the rig would not move-at all.
We had blown a pressure switch on the hydrolic line that controls the parking break!
It was Thursday, we were supposed to be back to work on Friday. Got to work Saturday afternoon!
The lovely director, Anita, not only allowed us to stay in the parking lot- she let us plug into their electricity for the entire time we were there.

Believe it or not, while a local fix - it guy was getting a part manufactured for us, I managed to spend less than $10.00. What's more , I realized that St. Ann, the housekeeper of heaven, must have suggested this stop to her GrandSON! I managed to finally get all those too small clothes, unused coffee mugs and piles of books out of the motor home and into the thrift shop!
If you are in San Angelo, look up the store and tell them Marcie sent you!

.

Please forgive my spelling in the last post. It's way too early in the morning and I haven't had my tea yet!
BTW we did also leave a donation to pay for the electricity we used at the store.

Marcie

Hey Thrifty1 thanks for the link! It warms my heart to see our Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store included in the list. I volunteer there every Monday (unless we are RVing) and love to meet all the folks that are passing through. The "Pink Ladies" that volunteer there (at least the ones I know on Mondays) are terrific people.

Proof thrift stores rock. I ran across a brand new Shakespeare SeaWatch Marine TV Antenna system new in the box (Mfg by Winegard) for $3.

The brown stuff you see is butyl tape covering the ends of the bolts to help ensure a waterproof seal.
