We use RPI 10.00 per night for up to 14 nights. Not a fan of Thousand Trails although we stay at them on occasion because RPI and TT overlap at some parks. It just seems that TT are stating to look like homeless camps. I have nothing against old RV's but they allow piles of junk laying around many RV's and permanent residences. We love Escapees parks always clean and great facilities.Passport America is excellent as well.

Currently staying at a park in the Black Hills for four nights. Using Passport America my 90’ FHU 50amp site cost me $26.50 a night instead of $53. A savings of $106. Lifetime member and already paid for itself.

You do realize TT owns RPI, and Encore OWNS TT, right? Yes, lots of people are living in RV parks because housing costs are out of sight. We use TT for 50+ nights a yr, plus ROD, AOR, and C2C for another 50 or so. Saves lots of $$$ for us.

Hi! We own a thousand trails membership & are full timers, if it weren't for it we couldn't be out there traveling. We went on line & looked up used memberships, & got a much better deal than buying a new one. We also have Passport America. Good Luck!

Do y’all that use TT or Encore ever have trouble booking spots at the participating parks?

It has happened. But our 'home' TT park is one of the most popular in their system. Getting in for holidays can be a challenge - key is making your reservation just as early as you can in your window. There are some tricks that help in that process, too, once you understand their system.
If you wait until the last minute, you should expect challenges.
Good luck!

I am a big fan of the golden ticket for national parks. You pay a one time fee of $80 or $20 a year till it is paid up to the 80. The ticket turns to lifetime then. You must be senior citizen though.

Some are excellent, some are so-so, and a few are definitely not worth the effort. Dumps, as you say. Having said that, it's often in the eyes of the beholder.
We've been in 7 different TT locations the last 2 years. With one exception, they've all been pretty nice. The exception is the former Outdoor World location at Sturbridge MA. Its biggest problem is that it's old, and was built in the days of popups, etc. Nobody ever dreamed of a 42' Class A. Having said that, the staff are *REALLY* nice and helpful - they go way beyond the call of duty to make sure you have a nice time. Generally we experience that in almost every TT location.

I use Passport of America. For the $45 I pay a year it pays for itself in just 3 campgrounds or days. After that you are saving money.

PA a great value
In my opinion, PA is a great value as it's the cheapest by far and there is no limit to when you can use it. Yes, some of the parks limit what days or how many nights the discount can be applied but you can go from one PA park to the next with no time out of the system if you like and with the 50% discount at many of the parks, a few days of no discount applied is still a huge $$$ savings for the overall stay.
I went and listened to a TT presentation a few months ago at one of the parks closest to us and as has been said, If you're going to use the pass a ton (Full timing or heavy camping during 6-9 months of the year, I can see it being a significant $$$ savings. Some of the parks are really nice and some are closer to a KOA in as your crammed in pretty tightly so don't expect every one will be a state park like site with room to spread out and setup cornhole boards and throw frisbee on your 16th of an acre.We didn't purchase one because we are not free to camp as much as we would need to to recoup the cost. The other thing I didn't care for was the reservation system prioritizing early access to making reservations based on how expensive your membership was. It made me think unless I bought the most expensive one, I had little chance of getting into the most popular parks and little to no chance to get into them during holiday weeks. The membership Fees, yearly Dues and other associated costs would be something I would have to list out on a spreadsheet to make sense of what the ROI/Break even point would be before I committed but I knew half way through the presentation it wasn't going to work for me since I'm still working at a brick and mortar location and not able to work remotely or fully retire yet, i.e. wouldn't be able to camp enough to save money.
So Passport America is a good deal for even the occasional camper if you check their map and there are campgrounds in area's you like to camp. Most campgrounds limit you to 3-6 nights of using the discount and/or a Sunday-Thursday only kind of situation. I've used it in TN, FL, OH, KY and at numerous parks in each of those states and have yet to have a bad experience. In fact, some of my favorite parks we PA parks. I like the larger sites with a little space and some trees between the campsites.
TT is a little harder to see benefit with unless your going to be camping a bunch and using those sites enough to get your monies worth plus some.
