We will be camping along the Great River Road in Minnesota in July, does anyone have information regarding camping areas around Itasca Lake?

Are you going to "step across the Mississippi"?
Did that many years ago at the beginning of the Mississippi River.

Can't help you with the campground, it was a long time ago when I was there. Sorry

Around Itasca puts you in northern Minnesota which is prime vacation area that time of the year. Park Rapids, about 40 miles south, calls it the "Nation's Vacationland". There are all kinds of camping places around besides the State Park itself. Trouble you may have, it is a busy time, especially if around July 4th.

Stay at Itasca State Park. They have 2 campgrounds with hookups. Bear Paw is near the lake. We have stayed there many time. You can make reservations 90 days in advance. Go to the reservations page: www.stayatmnparks.com
