So, what do you do about seat belts?
My Carlin is 2 and needs his carseat buckled forward facing. I have the driver and passengers seats, then in the back is the couch that doesn't bolt to the floor and a swivel chair that doesn't lock down. All 4 of the extra seat belts are arranged down the outside walls. I removed the dinette but there weren't any seatbelts there anyways.
When it's just the two of us, he gets the front seat. But I would like to take another along sometimes, to help with the booth and babysitting during a faire. Sitting sideways would just make me ill, and think of the whiplash from an emergency stop strapped to a swiveling chair.
It is an older 1984 Winnebago Chieftain, so maybe/hopefully things have improved for the rest of you. But what is the workaround for us? Can 'new' seats and seatbelts be added? Going without a seatbelt is not an option.
Thanks,
Bryanna

Hi Bryanna and welcome to our site. I would not let anyone sit in a swivel chair. Most MH's have warnings around those seats NOT to sit in them. If I were you, I'd get a seat belt and fasten it to the floor in the dinette. Then you will be facing front. You should have access to the floor if you pull out the drawer or the bottom piece of wood for the seat. Good luck.

hmm, it was the dinette that says "do not occupy while in motion". it had no seatbelts and Carlin needed the floor space for crawling, so it was easily removed.
the swivel chair does have seatbelts, but I can't imagine why.
is it a DIY job to remove/reposition seatbelts and a chair? doubt my apartment Lazyboy would work, but sure would be more comfortable living to have a real recliner.

My guess on the "Do Not Occupy" dinette is to prevent teeth digging into the table or whiplash over the back of the seat. Our sofa has three seatbelts into which I strap three car seats. So far I have not had a problem in 10 years. In fact, I added a 4th belt on one motorhome sofa due to the number of kids to seat.
Our recliner can swivel, but has a release latch so it will stay fixed also when desired. Maybe the latch mechanism needs adjustment or lubricating.
In addition to the sofa, car seats are strapped into the "shotgun" and "swivel" seats for the 4th and 5th children. Both ride sideways, facing the aisle, with no problems so far.
