We are wanting to go camping the week before Easter.
The wife is finally beginning to balk at going to all the same old places, i.e. Myrtle Beach, Gatlinburg, Stone Mtn Ga.
Id like for us to go to DC, but Ill need some thing for the kids to do or they (wife included) will mutiny, like theme parks, go-carts, etc.
What sort of things are there for kids to do besides museums and looking at and reading about old dead guys (which is what I wanna do!)?

I hope you enjoy your trip to DC. I enjoy the museums, but I understand that the kids would get tired of too much of that. There is the National Zoo which is nice and just North of Richmond is King's Domion theme park. King's Domion's webtite says they open April 1 for the 2006 season. http://www.kingsdominion.com/
It is 100 or so miles South of DC, but you might stop there for a night or two on your way to or from DC.
I know of a couple of RV Parks in the DC area one is in VA here is a link http://www.traveltrailervillage.com/
It is nice, but does not have too many extras, another is http://www.cherryhillpark.com/
I have not stayed at Cherry Hill, but I understand it has a lot to offer for the whole family. Cherry Hill is more expensive, but might be worth it for you with childern.

Cherry Hill is a great park. It is right off the Beltway at College Park. Greyline buses come to the park and it is very near the Washington Metro system. It has a lot of amenities, and although it is a little more expensive than other parks, it makes up for it with convenience.

Some of the museums are very interesting for kids. The Air and Space museum is popular with boys in particular and the Natural History museum. Check it out at http://www.si.edu/
We stayed at Cherry Hill and it is very convenient. There is a bus that stops at the cg but you also drive less than a mile and park at the metro station for very little and take the metro into the city.
