Don't believe me? FACT: Caboose lake campground, Remington Indiana. MY restored unit was refused. The attitude didn't start until they seen my 15 year old son. The rig was the stated issue.
I had the sneaky suspicion that it was discrimination, so I decided to set them up. I sent the wife over there by herself three weeks later with the SAME rig. there was no problem getting in....same person. Of course, when the mistake came to light, they wanted the unit out of there. But I had enough evidence for a lawsuit. Andrew Taylor </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
If they asked you to leave the second time (after the mistake was caught) how does that give evidence for a law suit? What I see is that this CG asserted the rule consistently, albeit late the second time. They did indeed assert the rule both times. It doesn't make it a good rule (I think it is terrible rule too) but it was consistent. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Actually No, the rule wasn't enforced the second time. There was no issue with the unit. I didn't make myself clear.
The "mistake" that came to light, was finding out who actually owned the trailer because I confronted the owner in a professional, but non-irate way. For some reason. the Campground manager just simply didn't care for my 15 year old, that is a really good kid, and didn't say a word during the whole thing.
Please do not think I am a gold-digger, and in truth, I want absolutely no money out of this. It is illegal in the state of Indiana to discriminate because of having children.
In this case, The CG manager was HIDING behind this rule, because evidently, She did not like our looks, or something perhaps hit her wrong. I did check to see if my fly was open, or that perhaps my right guard had stopped working!!
So you see, its clear that the problem was WHO we were for reasons unknown, and not the camper.
I do remember a time when I lived in a old ratty travel trailer, I remember the attitudes, the discrimination, and the stereo-typing. That old rig kept me from being homeless, when I started out in this world as a young man.
But now, I have my means, and a great income from years of hard work. I remember well the people who judged me, simply because I didn't "look" a certain way, because of what i towed or drove. I remember the people who stood in my way for no valid reason. I have made it, and still loathe those type of people who will exclude common folk, hiding behind a "rule' and then lying about it.
Ironic! when I bought a nicer rig later I was treated much different. I was the same man.
We tend to look down on the homeless, and people on welfare, Stating that these people are lazy, mentally ill, or uncouth. But conversely , We tend to quickly crush the very few who are ingenious and brave enough to rise above it.
It's sad really, That in this country that was founded by people who fled oppression have become the oppressors. We tend to judge someone by appearances, rather than their attributes. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The suit is pending.
