Ok... lets get this straight, Hospitals and providers require up from payment for any and all procedures on these crazy Christian Share programs... want to challenge me? call any hospital and tell them you need knee replacement surgery and you have this type of plan and ask what will be expected in the way of payment....
Next, no PPO plans in Texas, Scott and White is nothing but a local network, not a true PPO. The only PPO plan for sale are Humana and UHC off exchange only and also only ion select counties... Also, at any moment Humana may pull the PPO due to figuring out they are getting hammered on claims by brokers like us with LARGE client bases and moving all BCBS PPO clients over there....

I just waned to let y'all know that I won't be able to contribute to this thread going forward, but wanted to wish everyone luck in finding the health plans they need for 2016. It's a complicated landscape, but hopefully the comments have helped navigate it.

I have been on the phone for hours with BCBS Texas - Then removed my PPO and moved me to HMO - We can probably make it back here once a year for my Dr. visit and get drugs BUT I have been fighting bladder and Kidney cancer with Dr. Shaw in Austin who is not in the HMO so I filled for a variance to see him and got denied - Now I start all over again - Sucks

This is as political as I'll get in this thread.
20 years ago you had your choice of several insurance companies and with each company (for the most part) an assortment of plans.. Some of these plans were very "local" (no coverage away from your home area) others nationwide, still others world wide.. Some of them only covered you in a few hospitals, some more hospitals, some any hospital.. Some provided for doctor's office visits, some only selected doctors, some any doctor, some did not.
Today: Still the same.

today is NOT the same... not in my view..... your comment does not relate to Texas as all plans that had any footprint were national PPO but good try
PS... i was in this business 20 years ago so i know what was out there

I understand why wheelingit withdrew from their thread, arguments are beginning-from lack of total understanding of the present health care environment. I doubt any one individual has read the entire X thousand of pages of the bill, or can remember all the contents if they did.
This is a good thread for our edification though. I'm fortunate, my only health care payment is part B.
Lets stick to sharing current information and known facts, like they desired in the beginning.

Nice to have the info sharing
We are going full time middle of next year and still residents of CA. I check with Liberty and they do not cover any preexisting conditions for one year. I have an active condition so that will not work. I have found a Blue Shield PPO that should work for now but the cost is 1500.00 a month for both of us - age 59 and 61. I think this is the first time I have wished to be older for Medicare

Consider changing domicile ASAP. Escapees mail forwarding service in FL uses Sumter county which has an ACA exchange EPO plan that functions as a PPO out of state (great for RVers).
Besides offering a good plan, the Sumter county ACA exchange health plan rates are some of the cheapest in the state. For example, I ran your numbers on www.healthsherpa.com and for both of you a Bronze plan came in under $1000. That's saving $6000 per year + FL has no state income tax.
BTW, the same is not true of the health plans & prices available in Polk county, Texas -- the location of the Escapees other mail service.
