Curious to know the oldest ages when folks started full time rv'ing. Thinking about it but wondering if I'm near the age of "no return".

We were both 60 when we hit the road. Been here for 3 years and see no end in sight.

Me 62 - 7 years ago. Best to not include DW's age...
Still not ready to settle down.

Good question. I have been kicking that around. My wife can retire at 63 which is three years from now. I will be 59 this year and I can retire at 62. Hopefully I can convince her to full time by then. I'm ready.

If you want to do it, just do it! Do you already have an RV? If so, just close up or rent out the house and hit the road for a 'test drive' of full timing.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Live it!

I was 54 and my wife was 49 when we quit working and hit the road fulltime. We traveled over ten years fulltime and now we have a house and only travel six months a year.

Was 47 the first time and it was a great age to fulltime. The problem was, I was too young to retire and stop working. The fulltiming lasted 3 1/2 years and I got bored, seemed to lack a purpose.

This time I retired at 59 and think I can handle the retirement but intend to part time. In comparing then and now, I would say the younger the better. Fulltiming can be a lot of work and may not be for the weak of heart or out of shape.

The reason to part time instead of fulltime is that it's a lot of work to get rid of or store it all and a lot of work to stop and set it all up again. The greatest percentage of fulltimers hang it up within 5 years or less. If you start at 65, you are moving back into a sticks and bricks in your seventies, in my mind, that was too old for me to go through it all again.

As a wise man once said, "Choose Wisely"!

Thanks for the replies. I'm 68 now and still working part-time. Tend to agree with Jim that beginning this in the next 2-3 years may not be the best choice. We just started rv'ing 4 years ago. Enjoy it but as Jim said not sure starting in my early 70's would a wise choice.

We started fulltime in 2002 at 59. Don't see stopping in the near future, if the health holds up! Still more left to see and more strange food to sample!

Howdy!

I retired and we started FTing at 55 and LW was 51. Three years now and we're still loving it!
