I am looking into changing my residency to SD through Alternative Resources. I noticed that on the Residency Affidavit it is noted that with a SD drivers license you are on a supplemental list for jury duty. If I am working in Louisiana and called for jury duty in SD, that wouldn't go over to good. Has anyone out there ever run into anything like this?

How many times have you been called for jury duty? After having a DL for 44 years, I have only been called once. I figure the odds are slim, but you never know.

I have SD residency as well, but use myhomeaddressinc.com I found the insurance rates lower in Emery, a town of 600.

Sd is very RV friendly. If you get a jury summons, you call the court clerk and explain you are a motohomer and you are not available for jury service. You will be removed from the jury list.

This information is correct, at least for Alternative Resources customers in Minnehaha County. Jury duty is controlled by the counties, and other counties may be different. I received a jury duty notice a year or two ago (to report in December, no less!), and I called the office of the county clerk of courts. I was told to write "full-time RVer" on the back of the notice, sign it and return it. I was excused from jury duty and removed from the list with no further question.

In one of the recent Alternative Resources the same process that "paz" described was cited. Write FULL TIME RV'er on the form and return it. you will be removed from the Jury Duty database.
