Hello Everyone,

Is there anyone who is a FT RVer? How do you like it vs home living?
how Long have you been ft rving I am looking to start ft with a tiffin allegro 32 or 34'. I live in NY but Like Lazy Days in Tampa Fla. this is my preference but actually have to se how really honest these people are. But I will, when the time is right visit Tiffin and Lazy Days before to confirm everything. People are saying to look for about a 30% discount off price. Any advise for a New Ft RVer?
How does this sound to all you Vet Rvers. Yes, I am still wet behind the ears but am looking forward to getting on the road. I already have driven the entire east coast from CAN. to Fla. and Loved it started back in 85. I am gratefull to all of you and this ENTIRE Forum becuse now I can Make new friends and not be as alone anymore. You are all in my prayers and all your families. God Bless and Happy New Year!! Nick:
Any Advice

I would recommend you look at DayBrosRVSales.com in London,KY to see if they have anything in their inventory that catches your eye. For me they were honest and stood behind what they sold!

...IF you haven't purchased - it appeared that you hadn't...

One of the best things you can do is go over to Escapees and visit their forums. Very oriented towards fulltimers - the company was founded by fulltime RVers.

Hi Nick and glad you found us. As a newbe that is thinking about “Fulltiming” The largest piece of advice I could share with you is try your hardest to hit the road DEBT free. Payments on the road can ruin a great time. The next pearl is NEVER buy new. We have been fulltime for 7 years now and one thing that I have really noticed is folks pay so much for their new Motorhome they take better care if it than they do of some of their children. They take their new coach back and back to the factory for warranty work until everything is fixed. They have little to do while wintering in the south they are constantly puttering and polishing on their coach, they are better than when they where new after a couple of years. Most new owners are buying a coach that has 500,000 miles built into it but in fact most 4 year old coaches only have around 30,000 miles on them. They get the wheels run off them the first year and then things slow down. There not even broke in yet. In the 7 years I have been out here I have only run across 3 coaches that had over 100,000 miles on them. We started out with a 9 year old coach with 52,000 miles on it and bought it for a song. It served us well for 6 years. A year ago we purchased an 8 year old DP coach with 42,000 miles on it and it works great. Paid less for it that the down payment on a new one. Our other coach would easily lasted us another 4 years but wifey wanted a change and this coach is a Phaeton with a lot of class.
See you on the FORUM
Ron and Sharon

Dittos on Lazy Days recommendation. Looked at many, chose Lazy Days and James Paredes even though they were 1100 miles away from us. Very honest, very interested in our needs.

Yes, I saw the escapees on RVTV one day last year. I definately plan to get invloved with them. But I must first get my Home. But I am planning another east cost drive this spring in my SUV. I Got my new CB Peaked and Tweaked and am now setting up my SUV for the haul. That is If I do not get my mh before . I feel it driving around my gut and I just cant wait to Finally get the Ball started. But I do not want to make myself Vulnerable to the salsemen/Women.

We've been on the road 2 years so far and lovin' it. You'll find lots of full-timers on the forum here so you're in good company.
One thing to think about when you go FT is domicile. If you're breaking all ties w/ your old state consider establishing domicile at one of the tax-free states...South Dakota, Texas and Florida are the most common choices. Compare vehicle registration/tags, health & car insurance plus licence requirements in each state before you decide.

For SD look at Alternative Resources or My Dakota Address
For TX look at Escapees
For FL you can check MyRVMail or Good Sam's

Hi nrc1963, good to have you on board.

We have been full-timing for almost 6 years, and we love it. It is a beautiful country, and being able to see so many different places is the best part of full-timing. We love history, and we love that we are able to experience historic places first hand.

That being said, however, full-timing is NOT like being on vacation. As long as you understand that going in, you will have a better time. You still need to meet everyday challenges like getting vehicle repairs, getting medical care, paying bills, etc. most of the time while in unfamiliar surroundings.

Do your homework up front, especially with your RV choice. It is a big investment. We love our Tiffin motorhome, and you will be hard pressed to find better customer service. One of the most important things is to make sure your RV has enough cargo carrying capacity. Figure on 1000 to 1500 pounds per adult.

Best wishes in your quest.

Nick,

Tiffin is the manufacturer, Lazy Days just one of the many dealers who can see you a unit. You would be better off looking for a gently used coach in the 3-5 year range. Don't care who the manufacturer is, first owners spend at least a year doing the quality control checks that were missed at the factory. Also the depreciation his is huge for brand new coaches - let someone else work out the bugs and take the hit. And there our loads of dealers in the country, don't limit yourself to just one. Not to mention a lot of private sells - you just need to spend some time looking. Also check out the owner's forums for the Tiffin Owners group - - good information from people who own them.

The reason I suggested Escapees is that you need to learn as much as you can about fulltiming - ALL OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES of fulltiming. Not everyone does it the same and you might find out that a different rig might be better for you. Also if people put a link to their blogs in their signatures, take a look - - it will help you see all of the different types of fulltiming adventures that people have as they travel about the country.

Great advice! Being a 3rd generation car dealer, not buying used is the best advice due to depreciation! We bought a 3 year old Monaco Camelot and absolute it love it. Made a great deal! Remember this "a good deal is a state of mind". It was certainly a good deal for us. Today begins our countdown to retirement at the end of this year. We are so excited and ready to see this beautiful country of ours
