The not so humorous part is that I just bought a brand new Tacoma 4x4 last summer. At that time, RV'ing wasnt a serious thought...

When you need it moved, why not just post in here for someone to move it for you. There may be someone close that will do it for a nominal fee. I would if I had a rig to tow with. Wait a minute, I do, but it's only a half ton. Or post in local paper etc.

We don't full time but snow bird for 6 months.
When we had the 450 and 5er we used the 450 for our daily driver. Thought it was quite acceptable. Took it to the store, golf course, restaurants, mall, etc.

Certainly an option and thanks for the suggestion...
For me, it may simply come down to the flexability of having my own towing vehicle. At this point, I am just "thinking it through".

3, 4 times a year moved. I would find someone to tow it to the new location.
a truck isn't worth it at this point
but think a tad further down that road, is anything going to change very soon where having a tow vehicle would be the right option?
kinda darned if ya do and darned if ya don't situation LOL
think hard about how you are gonna use this, move it, is anything changing sooner than later and all that jaz.....you will figure out which is best in the end

For right now, I think that I need to see how I am going to adjust living in an RV. I'm on week three and have both "yes, I like it" and "no I don't" days. In fairness, I may just be going through "learning about an RV" phase that seems a bit overwhelming at times.

yea if you are not sure, then don't commit to anything big at the moment, walk into this and see if this is what you truly want. I mean nothing has to be planned overnight you have time to decide.
It is hard to know what you 'might want' in the end. Some need toyhaulers to drag their toys, then it is '5th vs. TT' and the 'but I love the 5th but WANT the use of the bed of my truck while towing and traveling and all that crazy jazz we all have to decide. Go with MH do ya get a toad or not and do I want to go this way or just drag a trailer?
We graduated into rving with tent, to truck camper while pulling our boat, to small travel trailer to bigger TT to 5th wheel to toyhauler 5th and we got so big on that monster that we downsized to travel trailer toyhauler that was shorter LOL
but see how it took to decide how we wanted to truly roll? Best thing is just really think about how you will be living you life in this thing Then you can narrow down what you really need to buy and not buy.
hang in there, you will find your path thru it all , we all have when jumping into rving.

I see the OP's issue as an easy one - don't buy a tow vehicle if you don't really need one, but find someone that DOES have a fifth wheel to 'help' you to your next destination, with a large tip. Plenty of folks already at the rv park are either not too busy, or retired, and might be happy to help... $1 per mile should peak the interest of several.

Definately a lot to think about, and I greatly appreciate the input.
At some point, I would like to have a toy hauler for a quasi garage, but I could probably modify an enclosed utility trailer to suffice. I do miss my garage.
Right now, I think that not being able to move it myself bothers me a little. Kind of like being "handicapped" or dependent on others. Such dependency is not something that I am accustomed to.

This is exactly how we lived in our 10' x 55' mobile home when I was a kid. We didn't own the truck needed to haul our mobile home from point A to point B, anymore than you own a 5th wheel truck to tow your RV. Same story. We only moved our mobile home every few years, and you're only moving your RV a few times a year. So, why not hire a professional to move it for you instead of buying enough truck to do it yourself? If you try it and it doesn't work out, you can always either buy the truck you need or sell the 5th wheel and do something else.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 6yrs. I usually work 2-3 weeks straight and get a week off to go home. I’ve been all over the lower U.S. for work and have always towed my own.
Not sure what industry your in, but in mine things change and I sometimes have to move on shorter notice. If I’m within 6-7 hours from home then my first week back I’ll take my truck home and bring a car back out.
Wife used to always ask why I had a $60k truck that just sits at home all the time until I hook up to the 5’er and move.
I could have it moved, but as stated I don’t trust someone else pulling my $95k dollars down the road. Plus I don’t like depending on others. If I need to go or at ready to go...I go.

You have a almost new Toyota PU, why not find a TT that you can pull with it?
Sell the 5'er, put the money on the new TT! Then you are not depending on anyone! Just a thought? Rail!

The wife is very happy with the 5th wheel. The size of TT that I could pull with my Tacoma wouldn't work for us, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Well, I don't have anywhere near $95K in my 5'ver nor would I ever....
As far as work goes, I do outages and special prohjects at nuke power plants. My assignments can be as short as 4-5 weeks, or as long as a couple of years.
