We are "Fulltimers" who joined the Escapees for their mail forwarding service and we never spend time in Livingston, TX. When considering Medicare Suppliment Insurance, we find that the insurance company wants to rate our policies as if we're Livingston (zone 1) residents. Our doctors and Hospitals are in Tyler, TX (zone 3) and we travel through there twice a year for that purpose. This difference will cost us an additional $45 a month for the same coverage. Has anyone out there had simular problems? Any suggestions?

As far as I know insurance rates are based on claims in areas broken down basically by zip codes. Since you and many more seniors use Livingston as a home address the usage for that area is slanted. If you think it is unfair for you think about the full time residents of the area who have to pay the higher rates because of all the Escapees who use that address. Your only solution is to change your address to an area with lower rates.

Tyler UPS mail forwarding
Change you address to there, if mail forward doesn't cost $45 a month more then Escapees.
Who knows, maybe your vehicle insurance will also be cheaper, using a Tyler address.
They have 2 stores in Tyler the one at above link and the one below.
1910 E SE LOOP 323
TYLER, TX 75701
AT TROUP HIGHWAY 110 AND THE LOOP (#323) IN TYLER

Why aren't you asking this question on the Escapees forum?
As to using the UPS store in Tyler - be aware that the Livingston address has been adjudicated to be a LEGAL address in Texas for licenses, registration, voting, etc. And there is no way that the UPS can match the service that you get with Escapees mail service.

It may be they have already seen on the Escapees where the address there, hasn't been good enough to use at many brokerage firms.
How long have you used the UPS store for your mail forwarding in the past? To even know if their service is not good enough as Escapees.
How do you know the UPS address is not approved for a real address?
UPS Quote: A real street address, not a P.O. Box number- providing a more professional image for your business.
Doesn't the Escapees give you a P.O Box or # number?
They probably aren't asking this question on the Escapees forum, because of getting answers like yours, that Escapees is the only way.
When it may not be the only way, for them to save some money.

The reason UPS, FedEx etc., require a "real street address" is that, by law, only the US Postal Service can put things in a mail box or Post Office Box.
When I dealt with Milldle East customers at Boeing, I intially had a really difficult time sending courier packages because they all usd "P.O.Box" addresses, but since they weren't in the US, I finally got the courier services sorted out.
The various private mail places around here use "Suite #" to get around that, even though the "Suite" is only about half a square foot! There are several of them because we have a lot of live-abaord boaters in the various marinas.

Hey Barb... are you an Escapee? You sound like one. All you get from them are replys like the one you posted... a lecture. For your benifit, we are aware of what the Escapee mail service has to offer. Now, do you have anything to offer as to a solution to my delima? I assume not...

You don't understand - Escapees went to court to get the Rainbow Drive addresses listed by the state of Texas as LEGAL, PHYSICAL addresses. UPS didn't do that.
As to financial firms not taking the Escapees addresses - - surprisingly most do. Some don't - but then if they don't want to work with me, they don't get to have my business.
As to why they should post on Escapees - they said they were SKPs and used the mail service. They are going to get better answer from people who are getting the types of services that they are interested using their Rainbow Drive address on the Escapees forum, not here.

Yes, I'm an Escapee. And the reason we use them for our LEGAL address is because we wanted to make sure we had everything in place before we went fulltiming. Maybe voting, etc., doesn't mean anything to you. In that case go with the UPS store somewhere.
It seems like the thread on the Escapees list concerning this very thing has an agent who offered to see what could be done to find something else for those that are interested. This is a person who works with Escapees and monitors the list so that he can answer questions. Not the response you are going to see here.
