DC Cherry Blossoms in April
We are looking for some advice on a nice RV park that has good access to the trains that go into DC. We have been told it is best to stay in Alexandria, VA and take the train into DC to see the sights. Can anyone give us some firsthand advice?
Thanks!

Check out Cherry Hill Park in College Park, MD. They are great and have a transit stop inside the park. I would highly recommend it.

Another option would be the privately run campground w/full hookups at Prince William Park Forrest near Quantico, VA. Short drive to the Virginia Rail Express.

We lived in the DC area for almost 40 years. We couldn't stay at Prince William over Christmas as we need 50 amp service so we could use our washer & dryer as well as our space heaters & they had 20 & 30 only. April can be hot & humid, so if you need 2 ac units, that won't work. We stayed at Bull Run Regional Park, but that's not near Metro. Your best bet is Cherry Hill for that.

The Cherry Blossom festivities in DC are lovely but just be prepared for the huge crowds and gridlock on the roads in the area. We visited a couple of years ago on opening day and it was unbelievably crowded; wall to wall people !!

This is great information and it looks like the place to stay is Cherry Hill. Thanks to all for this info. If you can think of anything else we may need to know (since we have never been to DC) we would appreciate it.
Thanks again!

There is an enormous amount of things to do in DC, what are your interest?
Air &Space Museum is always a big hit. You can contact your Congressman's office for a tour of the White House.
There are lots of events and shows see what showing at the Kennedy Center, Fords Theater, 930 Club to many to list.
During the Cherry Blossom Festival the is a parade and street festival that is sponsored by the Japan America Foundation and is always fun to see.

X12 on Cherry Hill. Get a long reservation, 2 weeks before and after, the anticipated blossom time cause weather dictates when that happens. Your chances of seeing the blossoms are about as good as they are you will miss it. It's also Spring Break time, lots of kids and crowds( they bring their parents). For fun - Segs in The City! Great guided tour!

About getting your congressmen to arrange a tour of the White House. It only happens if you are of the same political affiliation as them. Got stonewalled and never got to tour the White House!

DC Rocks! It's a super cool town! The DW and I love DC. Thanks for the hint on the RV Park, cause we gotta go there this summer.
Also, if you are in town, of course you have to do the national archives! And with that, you must also spend some time in the rotunda where they keep the declaration of independence and all that. It's a very neat experience.
There is also a letter in the national archives written to Roosevelt from a 10 year old Fidel Castro, where Fidel asked for a 10 dollar US Bill cause he had never seen one...
I wonder what would have happened if we had just sent him a 10 dollar bill !!

Reviving an old thread.
The blossoms are peaking this weekend, I called Cherry Hill yesterday and got a two night reservation. Anyone else there this weekend?
