We now have a contract on our house and the process has accelerated in getting rid of the "stuff". If the buyers can secure their financing we will be unattached fulltimers on March 17th.

We are 'part-timers'... in the winter we are in our 5er in the southern US... for the warmer months, we are in our 5er at a lot we own in a RV Resort in Alberta.
Sold the stick home 3.5 years ago & thoroughly enjoying this life style
Eh!

Sounds to me like you are living 24/7 in your RV - that's a fulltimer from where I sit.

Although we are not fulltimers and do own a house, we also own a townhouse that we were unable to sell and that was paid for. We opted to rent it out and have it managed by Century 21 so that we wouldn't be burdened by all of the inherent problems associated with a rental, maintanance, rents, tennants. As luck would have it, it turned out to be a blessing. We now have an income of net $1,500 per month and no worries. We got very lucky and were able to turn a sows ear into a silk purse !!

I'm retiring June 1st. I then have two homes to sell before my wife can retire. We don't plan to own a home, but I wanted to own "something". The idea is that we'll always have a 'home' to go to if times really get tough, and/or when finances, health or other circumstances dictate we 'plant' ourselves. In our case its an RV lot in a nice (new) development. Even if we ultimately decide to abandon the RV lifestyle (more likely that would be due to something beyond our control, such as declining health) we reasoned that the sale of the lot would give us more than enough for a nice 'double wide' with a palm tree in the yard.

It's been really interesting hearing others talk about this and their advise. We intend to fulltime in the future and look forward to those days. I have two years remaining in the military before I retire with 21 years of service. My wife will be finished with her RN degree and we both will wait until the youngest graduates HS in 10 years. Our plan then will be for the wife to become a travelling nurse with me as her driver and reversing the roles of me cleaning/cooking. I'll probably workcamp to stay active too.

Congratulations on your plan, Abnmarine. It sounds like a great one. A few years ago we spent four month in upcountry Maui and the couple in the cottage near us were doing nearly the same thing as you're talking about... only in Maui instead of an RV. They raved about the demand for traveling nurses and the freedom it afforded them.
Good Luck!

Thanks. We both are pretty excited about the plans. Figure we could move around to avoid the cold weather and take vacations to other countries for fun.

DBOL, we wouldn't be finiancially ready to not work at all as my military retirement will consist of around $2k per month. She loves nursing and the pay is great to travel $75-100+k. Plus they pay the mileage to be relocated (via a car). We intend to choose where we wish to go pending openings, staying in warm climates. I'm most looking forward to downsizing our things and living a more simple lifestyle. I'm already use to this now and the wife likes the idea too.
