That's a tough one. My mom does some pretty heavy duty pain meds on a regular basis, including a "patch" that I don't remember the name of. Before she went into assisted living, I'd have to go and pickup the script for that at the doctors every month, and bring it to walgreens to be filled.
Perhaps there is another medication that could be as effective but is not as tightly controlled?
Another option would be to build a relationship with a doctor that is part of a national health care company that would have offices where you plan to travel. Then just build up a 1 month cushion of meds so you have time to find and get into a doc once every 30 days.
