I also give two thumbs up for the Escapees RV Club, their RV parks, and their mail service while using a TX domicile.

No matter WHERE you domicile, join the Escapees! The Escapees RV Club is MUCH MORE than *just* a mail forwarding service...and you don't have to use their mail forwarding service in order to join!

I always say that I'm a member of "xyz" club, but I AM an Escapee!

We have South Dakota as our domicile. As above we are still Escapee members. It is a great club with good service and great forum, though you my join the forum without becoming a Escapee. Also they do a lot of lobbying on behalf of RVrs and full timers.

We've been with Escapees a few years and just re-newed to 2018 (special renewal deal recently) We will be fulltime in a couple months but we will use my Son for mail and will not use Escapees. It is supposed to be really good and if we ever get a mail service we will choose them probably. But we like Escapees for many other reasons. Rallies are usually great. Magazine is pretty good and a few other benefits are nice. There are many benefits to Escapees but we only use a few but the small price is well worth the membership fee. By the way, the Escapees C.A.R.E. program is a great thing and we plan on volunteering there and someday maybe using the service. It is really great for many people. It is a sort of assisted living service where you stay in your own RV. I couldn't possibly explain it as good as the website at Escapees CARE Inc.

Texas just stopped giving drivers license to people that do not have a residence in Texas. Read this news site.

Thanks for the link. That's interesting stuff. I wonder what problem they're trying to solve?

It sounds as though they waive the 30 day residence requirement for those who surrender their out of state DL so I'm not sure what's changed.

This is a voter ID type of legislation to limit the number of voters who aren't the "ideal" type according to the state legislature, including students at the many universities who are from out of state.

This isn't a problem for fulltimers. Notice that one of the pieces of documentation is the vehicle registration. So you register your vehicles first, get your insurance in place, then you have the two pieces of information for getting your drivers license - WHICH HAS BEEN THE WAY IT HAS BEEN DONE IN MOST AREAS SINCE WE MOVED THERE IN 2001. It was originally set up that way because people were getting a DL, but not registering vehicles to avoid paying Texas registration fees. They have just put in some other items to show Texas residency for those getting an ID card so they can vote - - again this comes back to students and voting as they don't accept a Student ID card from any of the universities in the state.

I have been full-time for almost a year. I use Home based in Emery, SD for mail forwarding, domicile and vehicle registrations. Small town equals small insurance fees.
