Firewood and fulltiming

Have house for sale, will not be long now (til we fulltime)

We have been to a few local campgrounds and people always seem to have a fire going at their campsite.

If you are a fulltimer, where do you carry the wood?

Even if you buy some at a roadside stand in route, where do you put it?

There are a lot of CGs that will not allow you to bring firewood in to it. In our area it is because of the Emerald Ash Borer. In many cases they will sell it to you. Of course, where did they get it? LOL

My friend carries wood in a spare basement compartment or two. Gets his kids to unload it.

I have been Full Time for over 13 years and have never needed any fire wood.
So I have never carried any or bought any or had any smoky fire.

In most privet campground over the years.
It looks like less then 5% have a camp fire anymore.

When they do have one near me. I always have to close the door & windows to keep the smoke out of the MH.

Same thing with us. Once we began full time, we found that frequent camp fires had lost their romance and just became smelly annoyances.

We did find that many, if not most, of the CGs out west prohibit transporting firewood because of pest infestation... or at least that's their story and they're sticking to it.

The DW requires a campfire as part of the camping experience. I bought her one of those DVDs with a fireplace loop that plays. Did no good, she still requires the campfire. Due to this requirement, I have a basement bay dedicated to firewood. I never use it unless there is none to be gathered around the site (I generally camp in wooded places).

They only let me join them for the entertainment factor.

Buy her a bottle of Liquid Smoke™ and sprinkle it on her campfire jacket.

As a responsible RVer you should take note of the transmission of diseases and insects when you carry firewood from one location to another. Of course if you don't care it does not matter as you probably won't be back there again anyway. Just hope that one like you does not come into the area where you live.

If I bring wood, it is usually from people who put it out for bulk pick-up. Desks, cabinets, remodeling, etc.

We enjoy camofiree but got tired of carrying, storing, ans splitting wood for a fire, besides all the restrictions.

We niow use Campfire in A Can. Starts instanly, goes out just as fast. It is really hassle free.

Dunner, these pictures are for you. Last of a kitchen table and chairs burning, the Rangers even came around to check it out. Good times. For a time there, it was a rule, bring a piece of furniture to the desert, use it while you were there and then burn it the last night.

If you really need a fire buy one of those paper logs. They do work great, wouldn't cook over it though.
