For the FT's....what do you do when you have to service your RV?
For routine PM services or elective non-emergency repairs we make appointments- if possible at facilities with hook ups. For unscheduled disruptive repairs we make it clear this is our home and ask for their help to make every effort to stay in the coach. Facilities have been quite cooperative when possible.
Only twice have we had to vacate the coach, for 2 days each time. First when we got towed to a truck repair shop in Oregon late Friday afternoon after closing and had to boondock there until Monday morning. By the time they got to us Monday our black tank was full and they had to order parts. Our service contract paid for two nights at the hotel plus meals. A couple of years later we had to schedule an appointment to replace our main awning after wind damage. The coach had to spend two nights in the paint shop-- no overnighting allowed. This time our casualty insurance paid for the hotel and meals.
There are only a small number of failures that will actually render the coach unusable. For all other things, you may have to be slightly inconvenienced for a while, but you can usually schedule repairs more or less on your own timeline.
