Freezer on Pullout Tray in Exterior Baggage Compartment

I'm thinking of going full-time in 2017 after I spend 2016 downsizing. I see a lot of new RVs where they are putting the external freezer into their coaches. For me, I would think that if I were going to go full-time, I would prefer the storage space over another freezer if I already have a full size residential refrigerator on the inside. Is this a feature that's really in demand by the occasional RVer or am I missing something?

You did not get the refrigerator/freezer option on the slide out tray on your new DS?
We use ours for beverages of all kinds, so we do not have to go in and out of the Coach during the day. We have never used it for a freezer. I would think for sure that your fridge would have a lot of freezer capacity........for two people.

I'm with you tomakat. We've specked our order with no fridge/freezer in favor of additional storage space

16 years of full-timing and had no reason for an extra freezer even though we had no residential refrigerator.

We didn't get it in the '00 DSDP, then we did in the '02 DSDP. But the '02 only had a 8 cf Dometic so we realy did need the space for frozen food.
When we got the Magna with a 22 CF Jenn Air refer the DW demanded that we get a bay refer/freezer. After ¾ of a year of ownership I have yet to hook it up, we just don't need it and I'd like the storage space back

You really need the extra storage space that a freezer would take up? If so, you have to much junk.

An extra freezer allows you get extra beef when in good beef country, good pork when in pork country, buffalo meat when in buffalo country, berries wherever you are when they are in season, fish when you catch it or in a place where there is good fish. Then there is crab, clams and so on.

Palehorse has a use for his which is pretty good.

We have a residential refer but carry the extra freezer when we are on an extended road trip like we are now.
