It appears that Anthem pulled out of the individual PPO market for Escapees Sumter Oaks FL domicile location :-(

Still looks like BCBS is available in FL. That is what I went with and have not heard anything to the contrary. I think the rates are going to be a problem. Read some estimates of the rates going up 45%. More will be solidified closer to Nov 1

Thanks, computerguy. Do you have any idea of what zip codes might be in that BCBS coverage area?

I’m also waiting for this site to update with our 2018 options:
2 Enrollment Options for Individual/Family Health Insurance - RVer Insurance Exchange

South Dakota Domicile. No real PPO I could feel safe would not be pulled out from under us. I did have an ACA compliant Group Retirement Health Care plan available, out of Blue Cross of North Carolina, but 2017 fee of $22K + $6K deductible was a 'no go' for us.

Working with Kyle's excellent site, and advise, we are now on ACA compliant Alieracare - a faith based medical support. A bit scary, as at least 7 times during the process, the point out 'This is not Health Insurance'. We also opted for the highest possible coverage, as well as accidental and major illness 'gap insurance' too.

Kyle's site may be useful to others researching:

Main - RVer Insurance Exchange

I go onto Medicare in early 2018, the DW has 5 1/2 more years to go... if the does not change!

Best to all,
Smitty

I think Florida Blue EPO plans are available in all of FL. However, for Escapees mail services, all you need is Sumter County (33597) . . . and EPOs are available there . . . so far.

Techwriter, thanks! Do you use an EPO? We need to figure out how that works if you need a doctor when you are far from domicile. Are you allowed to go to EPO providers approved for the region that you are in?

Nope. The wife and I are both on Medicare.

Your profile indicates you're from OH, right?

If so, you may want to keep OH as your domicile because I think BCBS PPO plans may be available in your area. In 2016, BCBS PPO plans were available in most OH counties.

Thanks, yes we domiciled in OH in 2017 but the insurance options for that county were dropped. We are looking for other options ANYWHERE that we can establish legal domicile - in any state.

It almost looks like the DH is going to have to start a business and work 30 hrs per week at it to get good nationwide coverage, if options are similar to the 2017 versions.

This is an important question. The wife and I are mid 50's and will begin our full time adventure next year. I have the VA (not retired) to fall back on but we need something for her. Does domicile really matter? It keeps coming up as something important that we better learn more about quickly. We'll watch this thread and see what others have done for options. Great Question.

This is what we are going to do for 2018. Headed to Orlando for spring break and setting up FL residence at the same time. We start fulltime right after school is out at the end of May. To young for Medicare.
