Those are the higher end more expensive rv parks. Someone on a tight budget isn’t likely to stay in such parks.

I have shown up at several of these "age restricted" parks with our 2004 45' Monaco and they take one look at it and give us a space. The age limit seems to be quite flexible if your coach looks good.

And this is why I made the comment. People that are new to this lifestyle need to know this stuff when buying an older rig.

I've been in a couple of RV parks in the last year that were not high end and they were refusing phone reservations for rigs older than ten years old. When I made my phone reservation at one I was told that if my rig was more than ten years old, I would not be allowed in, then I was asked how old it was. When I got there, it was clear they were enforcing the rule. It happens in more and more places all the time.

That's why we used public parks. No discrimination!

Of course, that assumes that one can easily get into public parks. A lot of state parks are fully booked for all weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day by January 2nd. And if the people decide not to go, they don't cancel, they just don't go. Plus we get tired of being charged for our toad as an extra expense - as if we would go sightseeing with a 37' motorhome!

This coach is a 1997 Monaco Dynasty. Very nice coach in it’s day. Owner sold it last year for $30k. It had 107,000 miles, but was well cared for and in very nice shape. It had just been driven from Michigan to California and back, without incident. Owner claimed it got 10mpg with no tag and no slides.

If you are handy and can do most maintenance/repairs yourself, a coach like this could give you years of affordable enjoyment.

There are many kinds of public parks: national, state, national forest, Corp of Engineers, county, city and boondocking on public lands such as national forest and BLM. Many, many places that don't even accept reservations so no need for them.

They are "so significant" that I have never run onto one yet. My last rig was 13 and never a problem

I have a the year old trailer, and I'm asked more than twice a year. My little brother is asked three or four times a year. Our own individual experiences do not make statistics, but I've been fill timing since '14, and I'm being asked more and more now then I was then. A KOA Journey park was actively booting people with old rigs out while I was there, and it wasn't a "high end" park and the monthly rent wasn't expensive.

But sure, tell everyone it's not a problem because it's never happened to *you*? Cool. I hope it never does. I've watched it happen to others though. Better new RVers know right from the start they will eventually face rig age discrimination.

We have stayed at all kinds of parks, including some very expensive ones. We have yet to run into snooty people.

Buy one that has the floor plan that suit you and your wife. If you don't you will not be satisfied down the road.

Don't go by make or whether it is gas or diesel.
I have a gas coach and it will go everywhere I want it to go. Have never found a coach that has a better floor plan.
