Hello, My wife and I have been full timing for the last 2 1/2 years. We use a Good Sams mail forwarding service out of Pensacola Fl. I have never been to Pensacola Fl. We are currently located in Davenport Fl some 460 miles away from Pensacola. I just received a jury duty notice from Pensacola. We did live in Ocala Fl for 5 years prior to hitting the road full-time. We picked the Pensacola mail forwarding because we wanted to keep our vehicle/voters registrations in Florida and wanted to return to Florida after 4-5 years on the road.

Has any other full timer received a jury notice? How did you word your response for nonattendance of duty? I appreciate your response.

During our 10+ years of fulltiming my wife and I have been summoned for jury duty eight times. Our domicile is in Livingston, TX with Escapees. We give them a call and tell them we are out of state and can not come back for jury duty. They say, OK, thanks for calling.

I would call them. I received a local notice, and due to my particular issue then, which would be difficult to write down in the little spot that is provided on the notice, I called instead. Was MUCH easier and they pulled me off of the computer list of jury pool. Took five minutes.

Also get the person's name and date/time that you called on the notice, for back up.

When you have an unusual circumstance, it's just easier to call. At least that is what I have found.

We also 'live' in Livingston. We just call and say we are out of state. Also call and tell them when we will be in Livingston to see if they need us to serve. Everyone in Livingston understands fulltimers so it really isn't a problem for us.

In 1999 when my DW and I fulltimed the first time, we used Escapees for our mail forwarding service and Livingston Texas as our official address. I got a summons for jury duty and called them to opt out as I was in the Florida Keys at the time. They were real polite and told me that I either appear for jury duty or that the Judge would issue a warrant for my arrest.

Times seem to have changed!

its your civic duty to be ready for jury duty , something about taxes and all that , if you vote......your going to be called,

I would call and see if you could be excused......

our county here in texas is not very liberal in their "letting you go"
but hey you never know unless you ask

We are Escapees also and I just received a notice to appear Jan 25th. I didn't get the notice until Feb 5th, so called and explained we were in AZ. They asked if we were just on vacation or were Escapees. When I said Escapees, she said "thanks a lot for calling. All we ask is that the next time you are stopping in the area, that you volunteer at the court house."

We were in Livingston this fall and I got a summons - we were able to be there during that time so I 'did my duty'. Got picked for a jury - which meant that I received $40 for serving one day - made for a nice dinner out!

I did forward a letter requesting an excusal, stating I was 500 plus miles away from Pensacola Fl. I noted mention that I was a 33-year retired military veteran and decided to full-time 4-5 years to see this great country I helped protect. I mentioned that I take service to my country and state seriously and I would be in the Pensacola area sometime in early April. I further mentioned that I would stop by the county courthouse and volunteer my services if needed. I did live in Ocala for 5 years and my wife served as a juror during that period.

Also registered out of Livingston. Called for jury duty many times. Just called them in Polk County and said traveling full time. Last time I said save your stamps what do I need to do. Oh, your old enough to be taken off the call list. Sent paper work back and not called since.
