Full timers with Florida residence address?

We plan or use my home in citrus county as our permanent address. When we buy the motorhome we will be in louisiana but moving to Virginia. Where should we register it? Hubby is Militarty.

Check the sales tax for each state and register it in the one with the cheapest tax. In my County of FL the sales tax is 6%. In FL you can register a vehicle in FL after you have owned it for 6 months out of state, as long as you don't change the name on the title and there is no sales tax. There is no personally property tax on RV's here, just $72. a year license plate fees.

Check on a Montana LLC and see if it works for you.

be careful with the montana gig. Many states have said noway and went on a witch hunt with fines. Fl only requires the annual tag after the initial sales tax. See if va has the same and not the yearly personal property tax.
By the way , hi neighbor ; we are in brooksville!

I don't think you want to register in the commonwealth (VA) we have a personal property tax depending on coach value and registration fees are a little steep too.

We have lived in Citrus County, Florida for about 15 years and just sold our house and started fulltiming.

We decided to remain domiciled in Florida and so needed a mail forwarding address. We also have a PO Box at Homosassa Springs that we initially used for our mail during the transition from our house sale and purchase of the MH.

We started using MYRVMAIL.com out of Crestview, Florida. It is the same business that Good Sam's uses. You can join from either web site. Works great for us.

There is another place in Florida that I have heard good things about but have never used. It is called St. Brendan's Isle. mail forwarding service.

When you are traveling around just have the mail forwarding service to send your mail in care Of General Delivery to a Post Office near you. Just verify the PO will except General Delivery in your name. Usually all you have to do is show your drivers license. Just pick a small town with one PO.

Or have your mail sent to a friend in Florida.

We do all our banking on-line so most of the mail we receive is junk and I can have the mail forwarding service shred what I don't want.

You will want to use the mail forwarding service address for your drivers license renewal and RV & car registrations as well as your insurance companies.

Hope that helps and good luck

+1 Remain a Florida state resident. No state income tax and tags for the vehicle aren't that expensive. Florida's governor is also trying to further reduce the price of vehicle registrations

Military are allowed to register their vehicles in the state of their home of record. If his records state that he is a resident of Florida, you can keep your vehicles registered there with no problem.
