Hopefully some entrepreneurs will recognize this gap and will start developing CGs in areas where they are needed and where they can make a profit.

It definitely has changed and not for the better. We also full timed for 6 years and then came off the road, but now, getting ready to hit the road again. When we went to Alaska in '16, we saw the handwriting on the wall. So, my suggestion, stay away from KOA's and Good Sam's! We are Passport America members and have found most of them are great and quiet. We also will be doing more boondocking this time as well.
Young families are invading the parks with their outdoor tv sets that run all the time, their kids are roaming free and have no respect for your private space and the park owners could care less. It's all about the money honey! Out west, the area is being taken over by 4 wheelers and their disregard for property as well. Still love the lifestyle, but you have to find your own space and it sure isn't in a RV park with lots of amenities!

We are full-timers and yes, it has gotten much busier. We were in Minnesota this past summer and had a hard time finding places to stay. It’s especially bad around the major ‘camping’ holidays. We find it a bit easier in the West, but again, it can be difficult, especially when you can’t ‘sit out’ a particular weekend or holiday. The northwest can be extremely busy in the summer (Oregon, Washington) and the closer to the coast you get the worse it is. The Southwest can be crowded in the winter, but not usually with kids. Mostly it’s snowbirds, and as a previous poster mentioned, LOTS of OHV’s. We’re currently in a park in Tacna, AZ (just east of Yuma) and there are lots of toyhaulers here but for the most part they’re very considerate with their OHVs.
We have it nailed down for this year - starting in March, we’ll be volunteering at Bosque del Apache NWR until the first week of June, then we’ll be volunteering at Malheur NWR in Oregon from July 1 through the end of September. All the holidays are covered in that we have a place to be, and in some of the most beautiful places in the country. It doesn’t get much more peaceful than a National Wildlife Refuge.

I feel very lucky. I had the opportunity to 'full time' from 1996 to 2004. A brand new motorhome in '96, and another new one in 2000. I was in my 40's.
We had a great experience, met so many wonderful people, visited interesting places. Never gave a second thought to finding a place to park for the night, or for a month. Fellow travelers were nice, respectful, interesting, helpful. RV parks and campgrounds were relatively inexpensive, well kept, and very accommodating. Overnight at a Walmart was unheard of. It was truly a lot of fun, and a highlight period of my life.
Would I do it again today?? Nope. I love our current RV, and we always enjoy traveling anywhere in it. But I would not want to go full time again. Too much hassle today.
