Fulltiming newbies!
We're picking up our Rockwood 5th wheel in 10 days, and are selling our house and leaving on December 1 to start a full time experience! Having never done this before, what do we do about a mailing address, and how do we get mail? Do we need mail, or can we do everything on-line? Can we take advantage of a new address on the purchase of our 5th wheel in 10 days (to save on sales tax)?

Yes, you need an address to use on important documents - medical, legal, vehicle registration, licenses, etc.
Choose your domicile address carefully. The popular ones for full-timers are Texas, South Dakota and Florida.
Get your address right now so you can begin doing your change of addresses. We used the Escapees RV Club's mail forwarding service with excellent results. When you want to receive your mail (which is sent out in one packet) you just call or email them to send it to a small post office care of General Delivery and they will hold it for it for a short amount of days. Some RV parks will also accept your mail package. Check both ways to make sure they will accept it. Do everything online as much as you can such as bill paying then you won't be in a rush to receive your bill in the mail. Some things you won't be able to do online.

Welcome and congrats on the lifestyle change and the new rig.
We use Florida for our residency and mail service.
Most of our day to day stuff like bill paying, purchases, keeping up with friends and so on we do on the internet.

You should have lined up your mail service 3 months ago -- that's about how long it takes to get everything transferred and to make sure it is working as needed. Yes, you need a mail service to act as your address for things like drivers licenses, voting, registering vehicles, insurance, etc. You also need to make sure you have health insurance covered. I don't know that you can get everything done in 10 days. You've been given links, make calls tomorrow.

Check out "http://myhomeadderessinc.com in Emery, SD. We have been using them for 6 years as our permanent address. They took care of all the paper work to get our SD driver's license and register our motorhome and Jeep. Spent one night in their campground in Emery and became SD residents. If you use them, tell them the owner of Box 4215 recommended you.
We changed our residence from PA to SD. No income tax, 4% sales tax, and it's easy to do. Plus, SD welcomes full time RV's.

We chose Florida as our domicile state. We use St. Brendan's Isle mail service. We've been using them for 17 months and are very pleased with them.

Thanks for all the friendly welcomes, and positive info for us to check into, sounds like SD may be the place to "reside"! It seems like 9 weeks should give us enough time before we leave on the 1st of December?? Some don't think so?? How long does the process take?

3 months should be enough time to establish your new domicile. You said, in your first post, that you had 10 days.

Are you planning to go to South Dakota in December?
