Health insurance for Canadians in the US

Hi everyone!

My girlfriend from Montreal will be joining me down in Florida this winter, (she's sick of the weather up here also! ), and we need to find health insurance for her.

She's covered by RAMQ in Quebec, (Quebec's provincial health care), but that only covers you for $50.00 CDN per day in the US in the case of emergencies. I have the good fortune to be covered by RAMQ in Canada and the VA down in the states, so I don't need any for myself.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

zog

I agree with Skip. We use CAA (BCAA here in BC) which also has a good track record for paying claims which some others do not. What out for the Pre Existing Condition scams with some of these insurers.

Thanks everyone!

Damm, it's expensive! We might have to get married, then she would be covered under ChampVA in the US, (we've only been together for 22 years, so I'm not too sure about that! ).
