Smile Health Insurance Road Block

We are in our early 30's and would like to full time RV in less than 2 years. We need to sell the house first and then figure out health insurance. Our parents are worried about us being able to afford health insurance on the road with just workkamping. We also plan to take pictures and sell them as well. We have the truck and trailer but need to figure out this stumbling block first.

We would love to live this lifestyle but need some advice from the people who are not eligible for medicare and such. We do not have kids, just our 2 dogs. Thank you for all of your help!

What's stopping you from checking out insurance options now? Unless you have some severe pre-existing conditions, getting health insurance at your age should not be an issue other than cost. Several places on the web can get you started in your quest to find a policy. If you are healthy look at a high deductible policy that covers hospital and major events. I assume you know you can continue your employers coverage for up to 18 months under COBRA but you have to pay the full premium (as in expensive)

If you are young and healthy, you may be able to get catastrophic coverage at reasonable cost. Catastrophic coverage has high deductibles and won't cover things like prescriptions, office visits and routine physicals. It will kick in only if you have an unexpected serious illness or injury. Whatever you get, make sure it is a national plan. You don't want to be stuck with something like an HMO that has only local providers, and that will charge high co-pays if you're out of network.
