Hello we are very new to this atm I'm also very cold...how do I tell if our roof top ac unit has a heat strip. I turn just the fan setting on and set temp at warmest and even after five minutes its still blowing cold air. I don't know much but for some reason I thought all of them have heat strips. Any pointers? My left knob has "off, low fan, high fan, low cool, high cool"

No, all A/C's don't have a heat strip. If yours does, there should be a setting for "heat" (or some similar word) to which you set the dial.

Heat strips are an option.

Some units will have a knob labeled "low cool, high cool, heat" , but that still doesn't mean it has a heat strip. Units in our old rv said "heat", but no heat strips.

Our newer rv units have heat strips in them. Wall mounted thermostats (ducted units) with a "heat strip" setting.

If it doesn't have a heat or heat-strip setting, chances are no heat.

Sorry!

A lot of units have a seperate ciruit breaker for elec.heat. Most of the time it is refered to as emergency heat.

I once added heat strips to my overhead unit, can't remember where I bought it but I would think they are still available.

Small ceramic heaters will do the same thing and you can set them near the floor where they will help more.

I have a 95 model rv and your unit looks the same as mine. Identical in fact, knobs and all. Coleman I think. No heat strips. central furnace.

I have heat pumps. But I prefer the small ceramic heaters, they are a lot quiter.
