I know it's different for everyone but how much does it cost for you? And what size / class RV do you have? I'm just trying to get a rough estimate.

Well, this will be about as rough as you can get. I lived in an RV for 3 years and found it much cheaper than living in a stick house. I used a campground that only charged $200.00 a month to stay, plus elect. & that ran from a low of $20. in the winter season and around $120.00 if I stayed in the summer. Lots of heat here in central Fla. I traveled some, but then everything changes when you are on the road. Over all it was still cheaper than living in a house though. But my wife says we have to have a house, so here we are doing both. When you travel you can go very expensive or be frugal and watch where you stay. I like Passport America when traveling.

When I went fulltime I got quotes from $1600 to $3600 for Full coverage with replacement coverage. That was in 2007 on a new 40' Dutch Star.

1 year. National Interstate via Farm and City broker. Current premium was ~$18xx.

Where is you domicile going to be when you go full time?
Then what county in that state?

What age, class, length of RV are you going to have?

My Full time for MH is $1,098 a year. with toad $2,054

The difference between "fulltime" and "non-full time" for my rig is only about $70/year, which is less than 10% of the total premium. My company (National Interstate) considers anything over 150 nights/year to be "full time". We used to be insurance "fulltimers", even though we have a house at our Floroda home base, but medical problems have restricted our travel somewhat in the last three years so I opted out of fulltime coverage. Very little price difference.

This was discussed on another forum as well, so you can seargh IRV2 for this topic and read them.

Insurance companies each define Full Time different, mine is I thnk 364 days is NOT FT, with that extra day making me FT. THe rates go up considerable if we FT it. The state you live in also has a bearing on it. THe level of coverage, type of coverage, deductable has a factor. You would be better asking for; names of insurance companies from folks who now full time, and then call those companies for their rates based on your level of coverage. Nevada is one of the more expensive states for automobile insurance I believe, but don't quote me on that.

We are FT and pay $1800 per year, this includes the full replacement policy which some companies do not offer. We are currently with GMAC thru Good Sam and/or FMCA. We "address" in Louisiana which is usually higher than most places.

We have full replacement "Homeowners" on our '04 36' quad slide--it runs about $1200 a year from Foremost. They are great to work with when you have a claim...

When we went fulltime I called the insurance company to change to fulltimers insurance. We increased our liability insurance and added a few other little things. When we got to property loss the first thing the agent asked was how much would it cost to replace the furniture. I told him nothing except for 2 little pieces of furniture (a table and mattress), and that a new RV comes with the furniture. So our property loss is much less because it is only based on clothing and other personal items. As far as clothing, it would be an opportune time for us to update our wardrobe. Since our rig is 6 years old our replacement coverage changed from total rig replacement to original cost repalcement.

Long story short, our insurance is $ 800.00 per year. Maybe less than others because it is a 5er and not a MH.

I pay a little over $700.00 a year, and have replace value and high liability $$$ on my coach, which is a 2004 Monaco Diplomat. The cost varies by where you claim residency.

Why is there a difference...If my DP sits at my house...or I drive it 1000 miles and sit.
I am very confused....State Farm will cover it...Fulltime, Halftime or parked....D

Our garaging address is in Missouri. We are insuring a 2003 5th wheel with high liability limits, comp, collision, pesonal property & roadside assistance. The annual premium is $600 with Foremost. On a trailer the full time difference is the liability coverage. In Missouri liability coverage is extended from the power unit to the trailer. Soooo, while you are parked if you are full timing you would have no liability coverage. So if you are full timing you need to make sure the policy you have covers you while you are detached. Hope that helps.
