I admit-need a little pep talk.

Short of it - brand new be. Sold all and set up on Lake out of Frisco Texas to get comfortable with the lifestyle. First two weeks in our new 16 footer were splendid. Then true baseball hail hammered us. Two nights later f1 tornado lifted us up 3 feet on two wheels and twisted entire trailer with us in it. Lotta praying fast. All safe. Update-my wife and I are not sissies but yes need confirmation this is lottery odds stuff our first 3 weeks in. Thanks, sitting in Texas heat w no a. c. and living out of ice chest till insurance replaces entire rig and two totaled vehicles.

I've been RV'ing since 1957 and only run into one bad storm that came close to lifting the MH up. Guess you have "beginners luck"!

I hope it all works out for you, my brother and sister-in law just left Texas and they had some storms also, luckly no damage.

I'd say you have certainly "beat the odds"!!! In 9 years of Rving only encountered bad weather once. BUT, it can happen anywhere any time. Just thank God that you all are ok! My advice is get an emergency weather radio, and have a plan next time. If that means heading to a near by shelter, fire, police station etc.. when the radio alerts you, then plan that out at each of your stops.

Time will build your confidence back up, and a plan will give you peace of mind.

I'll try not to sugar coat it...

An RV is very much like a boat or a plane. The Captain needs to stay aware of hazardous weather and take action to avoid or circumvent.

We have, in the past, hooked up and left a developing line of weather threatening to spawn tornados and damaging hail. It's not fun...but, as I am sure that you can attest --- neither is riding out the storm.

Please for your continued safety and enjoyment...invest in a little Weather Alert radio. Occasionally look at the weather. When you get the feeling the little hairs on the back of your neck are starting to stand up --- hook up and get the heck out of Dodge.

Keep your ship and your crew safe, Captain.

Oh and by the way...if you relocate to circumnavigate a storm...you're not a sissy!

You certainly got off to a rocky start but the best is yet to come! Get out of the midwest ASAP, especially for summer. Come back in fall/winter.

Tornado went through our park years ago and I remember holding my wife and figuring out how we were going to exit the RV when it blew over. So I can sympathize.

But in 35 years that was the only REAL bad one and the lasting overall affect was that it made us enjoy the good times even more.

So hang in there my friend, it can only get better.

Hang in there. Learn where the nearest solid building is to take shelter in. Generally the clubhouse or wash house will be a good place to consider.

The Good Lord was watching over you. Stuff can be replaced, glad both of you are okay. In 30+ years of RVing only bad thing was two flat tires within 10 miles of each other. Middle of nowhere in the desert & 117 degrees.
In years to come you can look back & have a great story to tell around the campfire.

Thanks all. I now have an immediate radar app on my phone and two other weather apps. I will retreat in the future if anything serious is predicted. Promise ya'll don't want to ride a twister in the dark so I guess I'm now a veteran when I warn all to beware this time of year. And no doubt the Lord heard me.
