I dont have a house anymore!
Can someone set me straight on what I need to do to have a physical address or not. Where to get one. Do I need one for drivers license or taxes? Tags and inspections on the road? Can someone give me a line on what I need to set up or do before we leave our home state and not return for years????

I believe you just need a traveling mail forwarding service. It sounds like SD and FL are prime states. You will need to travel to them every so often though.
You can also do a home state.

Escapees will make you a Texan for a fee. (Instrucitons above) there are companies in South Dakota and Flordia that do this for their states. The remaining state where you can do this is Nevada.
I'm from Michigan.. I officially live at my Brother's house,, Which I actually HAVE been to.... Once...

We are homeless as well. What we have done is leased a building on 1 and 1/4 acre. 1/3 acre which is fenced with a security fence. We have a save place on the outside to park the MH, also heated and insulated inside to park. 1/3 of the building is residential, primitive but nice. 50 amp service, cable tv, internet both inside and outside. So, this way we have a physical address as well as a PO box. We travel from here and return when we want. This also gives us a place to store supplies and items that we haven't sold yet. So far this is working out very well. Other advantages are we don't own it, we can terminate the lease. We have someone to look after the place when we are gone. There is a thread somewhere where several fulltimers are doing this. Just another option for you to look into.

You certainly need a domicile (permanent address) for taxes, insurance, drivers licence, registrations, wills, banking/investments, certain bills, ect.
Here is a thread with lots of advise and information to get you started.

We are able to use our daughters address for our permenant residence. She forwards our mail to us periodically. We do as much as we can online to eliminate mail. This way, we have our drivers licence, etc with a permenant address.

Count us among the "homeless" too! As others stated, you do need some kind of physical address to be your legal domicile. In our case, we made our permanent legal domicile the same as our mail forwarding address here in Florida and I suspect other mail forwarders do the same for their clients in other states. It works well for licenses and registrations as well as for voting, etc. It's just like you live there except you're never home!

It is usually helpful to do this about 3 months BEFORE one starts fulltiming in order to make sure that everything is in place. We are also Escapees and have been fulltiming 7 years - great people and we have never had a problem with out mail or with all of the other things that go with having a new domicile.
