When did having a South Dakota address become a reason to deny car insurance coverage? We have been with State Farm for all our insurance needs for over 40 years and today when we called to give them a change of address, they said it was a "known address" for full-time RVers and that they would no longer insure us. I am so angry, I just want to spit in their face. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. On to the internet now to find new insurance.

Contact Farm & City Insurance.

They are a broker and I found the best rates through them as a fulltimer.

They had me with National Interstate for the MH and Allied for the toad.

When I contacted National Interstate on my own, the rate was higher than going through F & C.

Welcome to the Full time world.
Yep! State Farm will not insure for full time. I guess you have never in the 40 years, read the small print in your policy. If you had, it states RV insurance is only for part time use of the RV.
Allstate is another one that won't do full time.
And a lot of others.

I have State Farm on both my moho and auto and I recently changed my legal address to myhomeaddress.com in Emery, SD. My agent is in Mitchell, SD. I was open about my FT status with him, and he even asks me where I am when he calls. He may be breaking their rules. Should I be concerned?

No. If you made a full disclosure to the agent, you're good.

If I was you. I would be reading the small print in the policy section what they do cover and don't on your RV.
If you see the section about RV use, is only for part time.

You might want that agent to send you a certified amendment to that clause in your policy.
Agents do make a commission on any sales you know.

I just emailed and asked State Farm on their web site if they had and sold Full time RV insurance.
Waiting for a reply.

Got a standard reply back. So no real information on their Full Time Insurance.

Seeing how State Farm treated me with a claim on my car after coming back from military duty in Europe was enough for me to wish a pox on their operation.

Same thing for Allstate.

Ask anyone who lives in Florida how they feel about the "good neighbors" who have you "in good hands".

I had a HORRID experience with AARP's The Hartford after their insured, an elderly lady, hit me. Before that experience, I thought lawyers were to blame for high insurance costs. The Hartford taught me that it's the insurance companies. They make you get an attorney, and therefore payout more. If they had been half way fair and not lied to me they could have saved over $5,000 on a relatively small claim.

You should try and get RV insurance quotes from The Hartford; out mobile home has been insured with them for years now and they’ve been a pleasure to deal with. Our rates have stayed low despite the claim we filed a couple of years ago.
